SOUTH BEND, Ind. (12/1/2023) -- Sophomore
Jaden McKenzie set a career-best in the 300-meters and etched his name in the Titan record book as the University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team began the indoor season at Notre Dame's Blue & Gold Invitational on Friday.
McKenzie posted a time of 36.03 for 10th in the race and 10th place all-time in Titan history.Â
Overall, the Titans had eight top-10 finishes on the day and a few personal records.
JuniorÂ
Cody Bartlett earned third in the high jump with a leap of 1.90 meters, while senior
Evan Eding was seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.46 meters. Sophomore
Antonio Talley placed seventh in the 400m with a career-low 49.61, while freshman
Nicholas Johnson claimed seventh in the 200m in 22.92.
Senior
Gabriel Baumchen clocked a PR of 8.94 for 10th in the 60-meter hurdles and juniorÂ
Luke Adamczyk was eighth in the 400m in 50.15. FreshmanÂ
Sebastian Cervelli tallied a sixth-place effort in the mile in 4:39, ahead of freshman teammate
Robert Galan's 4:46 for ninth.Â
Meanwhile, a couple of distance runners participated at the Saginaw Valley Holiday Open as graduate senior
Oscar Hernandez tallied a career-best in the 5000m with a time of 15:38.
Detroit Mercy will now have a break in their schedule for finals and Christmas and will return to action at the SVSU Classic on Jan. 12.Â
