INDIANAPOLIS (2/20/2023) -- University of Detroit Mercy graduate senior
Antoine Davis captured league honors for the third-straight week as he was named the Nike #HLMBB Player of the Week on Monday.
It is the sixth time this year that he has earned the weekly accolade, tied for the second most in league history with Green Bay's Keifer Sykes in 2013-14, and one behind Oakland's Kay Felder who garnered the award seven times in 2015-16. Davis already has the most weekly awards in HL history at 15.
Davis averaged 30.5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals as the Titans swept a pair of games at Oakland and against IUPUI. He led the way with 30 points, hitting 11-of-17 from the field and 7-of-13 from three along with tallying four rebounds, two assists and a steal in the victory over the Golden Grizzlies and came back with 31 points, five assists and a career-high six steals against the Jaguars.
Davis - the nation's leading scorer at 27.9 points per game - also broke two more school records in the week in the single school season record for 3-pointers and points in a season, both held by Rashad Phillips in 2000-01 (136, 785), as he now has 140 triples on the year and 809 points. He pushed his career point total to 3,543, 124 shy of Pete Maravich's NCAA record 3,667, and extended his 3-point mark to 569. He also has 1,179 field goals for eighth in NCAA history and is 36 in back of former Houston standout Elvin Hayes (1964-68 - 1,215) for seventh.
Davis and the Titans will be back in action on Thursday as they host NKU on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and Wright State next Saturday at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day and Davis jersey retirement.
