DETROIT (2/24/2023) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team will be back in action on Sunday as the Titans host Butler on campus on Titan Field.
The game was originally scheduled to be played indoors at Country Day High School, but was moved back to campus due to power outages in the area. It is set for a Noon start and will feature live stats, but no love broadcast.
It will be a Special Pink game as the Titans will be wearing their pink uniforms to honor those who are or who have faced cancer in their families. They will also be selling $25 pink t-shirts at the game, donated by
Stinson Mellor, with all the proceeds going to the family of senior
Annie Gilbert as her mom, Katie, is currently going through a battle.Â
Detroit Mercy is 1-1 on the season with a loss to Canisius and an 11-10 victory against Xavier of the BIG EAST last weekend.Â
Senior
Annie Gilbert leads the team with six points on three goals and three assists, while redshirt freshman
Taylor Rocha tops the team with four goals. Sophomore
Meredith Leavell has started both games in net, posting double-digit saves in both contests, and sophomore
Katie Bilello leads the squad with four caused turnovers.
Butler is 0-2 on the year with a 19-18 loss at Youngstown State and a 16-11 home setback to Kent State.
Detroit Mercy is 3-2 all-time against the Bulldogs, winning the first three, but Butler has claimed the last two, both in Indianapolis. The Titans are also 2-0 at home, but both of those were played indoors at UWM Sports Complex.
