KANSAS CITY, Mo. (3/14/2023) -- University of Detroit Mercy graduate senior
Antoine Davis earned a pair of high honors on Tuesday as he was named First Team All-District by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA).
It marks the fifth-straight season he was named All-District by the NABC and the fourth time he was selected to the First Team. Meanwhile, he was elected to the USBWA All-District V squad for the third time and is now up for All-American honors, which will be released on Wednesday.Â
The USBWA District V team was composed of Davis, Souley Boum (Xavier), Boo Buie (Northwestern), Zach Edey (Purdue), Hunter Dickinson (Michigan), Jalen Hood-Schifino (Indiana), Trayce Jackson-Davis (Indiana), Tyler Kolek (Marquette), Terrence Shannon Jr. (Illinois), and Tyson Walker (Michigan State).Â
He was joined on the NABC District 12 First Team by Max Abmas (Oral Roberts), Dwayne Cohill (Youngstown State), Zeke Mayo (South Dakota State) and Grant Nelson (North Dakota State). The Second Team was Trey Calvin (Wright State), Trenton Massner (Western Illinois), Jalen Moore (Oakland), Connor Vanover (Oral Roberts) and Marques Warrick (Northern Kentucky).
Davis currently leads the nation in scoring (28.2 ppg.), total points (930), total 3-pointers (159), 3-pointers per game (4.82) and total field goals (303), while his 37:23 minutes a game is second in the Horizon League and seventh in the country. His 159, 3-pointers is second in NCAA history and three away from tying the single-season mark of 162 by Stephen Curry in 2007-08.
On the season, he recorded a league-best 28, 20-point games, 14, 30-point outings and four 40-point outbursts, with the four 40-point games being the most since Campbell's Chris Clemons' four in 2018-19. In addition, he had a streak of five-straight games with 30 or more, which was the longest 30-point streak in his career and by anyone in the NCAA in the last 25 years, while he also became the first Titan to ever register back-to-back 40-point games and he did that twice on the year, the first player to register that feat since LSU's Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf in 1989-90.
