Davis Adds Another Late Season Watch List In Oscar Robertson Trophy

DETROIT (3/2/2023) -- University of Detroit Mercy graduate senior Antoine Davis is on the cusp of history and before today's Barbasol #HLMBB Championship Second Round contest, he was named to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Late Season Watch List by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

The organization selected 15 standout players. Members of the association's board of directors chose the players that will be considered as contenders for the National Player of the Year. The 2023 Oscar Robertson Trophy is to be presented by its namesake at the NCAA Final Four in Houston. A formal presentation will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Davis was named the Horizon League Player of the Year for the second-straight season and the All-League First Team for the fifth of his career.

He comes into tonight's playoff game with 3,642 career points, second in NCAA history and just 26 away from breaking Pete Maravich's NCAA record 3,667. The two-time HL All-Academic Team member also has 155 triples on the year and is eight away from breaking the single-season mark of 162 by Stephen Curry in 2007-08.

He currently leads the nation in scoring (28.4 ppg.), total points (908), total 3-pointers (155), 3-pointers per game (4.84) and total field goals (296). This year, he has a league-best 27, 20-point games, 14, 30-point outings and four 40-point outbursts, with the four 40-point games the most since Campbell's Chris Clemons' four in 2018-19. He had a streak of five-straight games with 30 or more snapped against NKU, which was the longest 30-point streak in his career and by anyone in the NCAA in the last 25 years.

The Titans will meet top-seeded Youngstown State at 8:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN+.
