DETROIT (8/2/2023) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team has signed 16 new student-athletes for the upcoming 2024 campaign.

15 of the Titans are true freshmen, while one graduate transfer has joined the program. 

"I feel this group will add to our strengths and improve on some of our weaknesses," said head coach Chris Kolon '09 (MBA). "They are a group that brings a lot of skill on the field and the traits we are looking for in Titans in strong academics and outstanding community members."

Sean Donahue * A * Howell, Mich. * Detroit Catholic Central

• A three-year letterwinner in lacrosse
• Helped his team to a CHSL title as a senior
• His sister, Emma, is a junior on the women's lacrosse team
• Played club with Omnia

Nicholas Elam * G * Loveland, Ohio * Christchurch School (Va.)

• A four-year letterwinner in soccer and lacrosse
• Played club with Resolute Ohio Black, helping the team so as high as a national sixth ranking

Lucas Goeller * MF/A * Torrance, Calif. * Palos Verdes Peninsula

• A four-year letterwinner in lacrosse
• The career leader in his high school with 238 points on 169 goals and 69 assists, leading his team in scoring as a sophomore, junior and senior
• Selected the USA Lacrosse Bob Scott Award winner as a senior, which recognizes a player who goes 'above and beyond' in service to his team, school, and community
• A CIF Southern Section All-Star selection as a senior
• Named First Team All-CIF Southern Section and First Team All-Bay League as a junior and senior
• Tabbed Second Team All-CIF Southern Section and Second Team All-Bay League as a sophomore
• Played with Team France at the 2023 World Lacrosse Championships
• Played club with Trident Lacrosse, SoCal Bulls and Classics

Julian Greendeer * A/MF * Green Bay, Wisc. * Notre Dame de la Baie Academy

• A letterwinner in cross country and lacrosse
• A three-time All-Conference nominee and team captain
• Led his team in points and assists as a sophomore and junior with 21 goals and 14 helpers and 23 goals and 26 helpers, respectively 
• Totaled 11 goals and 14 assists as a senior
• Played club with Team Wisconsin and won the Lacrosse America Luck'o The Draw and Lax Geneva titles
• A member of the National Honors Society

Carter Kaul * A/MF * Macomb, Mich. * Dakota

• Lettered in hockey and lacrosse
• Totaled 202 career points as a prep, including 76 points on 44 goals and 32 assists as a junior and 61 points with 36 goals and 25 assists as a senior, where he was Offensive MVP
• Selected to D2 Lacrosse All-Star Team in 2022
• Tabbed First-Team All-County and All-Region as a junior and senior
• All-Academic as a sophomore, junior and senior 
• Played club with Omnia Lacrosse, helping his team win the Diamond and Aloha Showcase

• Lettered in basketball, football and lacrosse
• Totaled 289 points on 167 goals and 122 assists
• Was the D2 Player of the Year and an All-American as a senior after tallying 118 points with 66 goals and 52 assists
• Helped his team to a state championship
• Set career marks with 15 points in a game along with 11 goals and seven helpers
• Played club with Resolute Ohio
• A member of the National Honors Society

Joey Nawrocki * MF * Burlingame, Calif. * Burlingame

• A varsity letterwinner in football and lacrosse
• Tabbed First Team and team MVP as a senior after winning nearly 80.0 of his faceoffs, taking 180 of his 226 attempts

Lance Poole * MF * Grand Haven, Mich. * Grand Haven

• Earned Letters in basketball, football and lacrosse
• Tabbed All-State and All-Conference as a senior
• Posted 44 goals, 33 assists and 83 ground balls as a prep
• A two-time All-State academic selection
• Played club with Omnia, a program that was ranked seventh in the nation, and was a two-time Showcase All-Star
• A member of the National Honors Society

Jack Reed * D/LSM * Corolla, N.C. * Blue Ridge

• Earned varsity letters in cross country and lacrosse
• Totaled 53 ground balls, five caused turnovers and four goals as a prep
• Played club with Rough Riders VB

Christian Tucker * G * East Lansing, Mich. * IMG Academy (Fla.)

• Lettered in football and lacrosse in high school
• Named a 2023 National Team Player as a senior at IMG, where he posted 101 saves and a 54.1 save percentage
• At Lansing Catholic, he was a 2022 All-State Honorable Mention, team MVP, All-Conference and a LSJ All-Area performer as a junior after tallying 295 saves and a 69.1% save percentage
• Played club with the Long Island Sting

Marcus Thundercloud * A/MF * Cedarburg, Wisc. * University School of Milwaukee

• Earned letters in hockey, soccer and lacrosse
• Recorded 177 career points on 107 goals and 70 assists in just 47 games 
• A team captain his last two seasons, he was selected the Classic 8-Black Conference Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference as a junior and senior
• Tallied 84 points with 56 goals and 28 assists as a senior
• Second Team All-Conference as a freshman and sophomore
• Played Club with Alpha Lacrosse and was a Project Midwest Summer Showcase All-Star, Team Illinois Invitational standout and
• Liberty National Elite All-Showcase Team in 2022

Sawyer Van Antwerp * A * Okemos, Mich. * Okemos

• A multi-year letterwinner in soccer and lacrosse
• Named the Lansing State Journal Player of the Year as a senior after recording 136 points on 71 goals and 65 assists
• A two-time US Lacrosse All-American
• Tabbed All-State twice and All-Conference and LSJ Dream Team three times 
• Posted 126 points as a junior
• Played club with Cherries and PLG and was a Can Am All-Star
• A member of the National Honors Society

Brian Wiles * A * Longmeadow, Mass. * Tabor Academy (UMass Lowell)

• A graduate transfer who played at Canisius and UMass Lowell
• Spent the last two seasons at UMass Lowell, where he played in 21 games with 11 starts and registered 14 goals, five assists and 20 ground balls
• Had two goals as a senior, scoring against Merrimack and at Holy Cross
• Had 12 goals and four assists as a junior, where he took 43 shots with 33 on goal for a .767 shots on-goal percentage
• As a junior, tallied a career-high four points on three goals and an assist against Albany
• Also had multi-goal games with two markers against Siena, at Merrimack and at Stony Brook
• Picked up a career-best four ground balls against Quinnipiac, at Merrimack and at NJIT
• In his first two collegiate seasons at Canisius, he appeared in four games and had two GB's
• In high school, he was All-League, All-Western Massachusetts selection and a two-time All-ISL Honorable Mention selection in his final two seasons
• Finished his prep career with 261 points on 163 goals and 98 assists and was a member of the US Lacrosse U20 team for two seasons
