LOUISVILLE (9/30/2023) -- Graduate senior Allison Sherman posted her seventh career 5k run under 19:00 as she led the University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team at the annual Live In Lou Classic on Saturday. 

Sherman clocked a time of 18:27 in the women's blue race at EP "Tom" Sawyer Park. Her seven sub-19 5k efforts are tied for the fourth most in school history. 

Sophomore Ayva Schmalz just missed another personal record by a few seconds as she was 110th in 19:31, while freshman Helana Napiorkowski crossed the finish line in 19:57 for 165th.

Junior Nina Pizzo tied her PR for the second-straight week with a 20:40 run for 244th, while freshman Alaina Burns took 260th in 20:48. 

As a team, the Titans were 32nd with 735 points.

Detroit Mercy will be back in action in two weeks as the Titans travel to Buffalo, New York, for the Canisius Alumni Classic on Oct. 14.
