Detroit Mercy (2-9-3) outshot WMU (10-0-5) 6-4 in the first half.
The Broncos came out aggressive, scoring a goal just 1:32 into the second half for a 1-0 lead.
UDM would not back down and responded with the equalizer in the 57th minute as Winters tossed a throw-in to Pierson, who took one touch and bent a long-range missile into the lower left 90 past WMU goalkeeper Colin Welsh, tying the game at 1-1.
It was all WMU from there as Carson Hodgson scored in the 67th minute and then added two more goals in the 69th and 77th minute to complete the hat trick and keep the Broncos undefeated on the season.
