DETROIT (10-26-24) - Junior Guershom Sylvain added his second game-winner and team-best sixth goal of the season, followed by junior Louis Simon's first career goal as Detroit Mercy secured a crucial three points in the #HLMSOC standings with a 2-0 shutout win over Wright State on Saturday afternoon at Titan Field. Sophomore Drew Pierson assisted both goals while redshirt sophomore Quinn Tews picked up his second win of the season along with a combined shutout with freshman Colin Monroe.

Both goals for Detroit Mercy (3-9-3, 2-2-3 HL) came off set pieces which proved to be the difference.

In the 26th minute, Pierson sent in a long free kick into the box, where Sylvain was able to connect on a header past WSU (6-8-2, 2-4-2 HL) goalkeeper Alessandro Malterer for a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Pierson once again got things going with a free kick. He sent a cross into the box that was deflected right to Simon who buried a shot into the back of the net to seal the game.
