DETROIT (4/13/2024) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team claimed nine first-place performances - with seven at Central Michigan - as the Titans wrapped up competition at three different meets this weekend.

Sophomore Jaden McKenzie was the big winner on the day, earning gold in the 200 and 400-meters in 22.54 and 48.87, respectively. He also ran a leg on the first-place 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays.

Senior Gabriel Baumchen was the victor in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 59.34 and was second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.89, while senior Evan Eding won the 100m in 11.14, ran a leg on the 4x100 and was second in the long jump at 6.46m.

In the high jump, junior Cody Bartlett leaped 1.90 for the win and sophomore Raeed Monnan was right behind him in second at 1.85m

Meanwhile at Davenport, freshman Joshua Neary was third in the decathlon with 4,725 points, just eight points shy of the Titan record in the event. His effort included taking first in the 1,500m in 5:04.70 and second in the javelin with a throw of 33.55m. Graduate senior Zachary Zaborney was also at the meet and placed runner-up in the triple jump with a mark of 13.50m.

At Bucknell, sophomore Joshua Otten crossed the line first in the 1,500m in a career-best 3:57.61, while freshman Christopher Russelburg finished 11th in 31:07.69 in the 10,000m, the sixth best run in school history. 

The Titans will now get ready for another split weekend next week as the red, white and blue will have some compete at the Jesse Owens Classic in Ohio State, while others will be at Oakland for the Elaine Leigh Track & Field Invitational.
