Titans Retool Roster With 15 Commits For 2025

First-year head coach Charlie Hayes has announced his first recruiting class.
DETROIT (7/15/2024) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team has added talent and depth for the upcoming year as first-year head coach Charlie Hayes '18 announced the signings of 15 student-athletes for the upcoming season.
 
The new Titans feature 14 freshmen and one graduate transfer from nine different states.
 
"This is a talented group of Titans that will come in, compete, and push for playing time," said Hayes. "This group not only features speed, size and athleticism, but also great character that we look for here at Detroit Mercy.  
 
Malakhi Berry * Defense/Long Stick Midfielder * Minnetonka, Minn. * Hopkins
  • A letterwinner in football, hockey and lacrosse
  • A team captain as a junior and senior
  • Tabbed All-Conference as a junior and senior and was named the Mr. Apollo Award winner as a senior, honoring the best male athlete
  • Tallied 75 ground balls, 45 caused turnovers, five goals and 10 assists in his career
  • Played club with TC Select   
 
Ethan Conover * Attack/Midfielder * Centennial, Colo. * Cherokee Trail
  • A three-year letterwinner in lacrosse
  • Tallied 29 goals and 16 assists as a senior
  • Tabbed First Team All-State Academic twice
  • Presented with his school's Citizenship Award
  • Played club with Denver Elite, Team 91 Colorado and 6 Star
 
Zach Gleason * Attack/Midfield * Loveland, Ohio * Loveland
  • Earned letters in basketball and lacrosse
  • Named an All-American, All-Region and the Midfielder of the Year as a senior after tallying 100 points on 63 goals and 37 assists
  • Tabbed First Team All-Conference as a junior and senior
  • Also was All-Academic all four years
  • Played club with Resolute Lacrosse Ohio Black and was nationally ranked
 
Brett Goldstein * Defense * Deerfield, Ill. * Western Reserve Academy (OH)
  • Earned five letters in lacrosse
  • First Team All-Conference as a senior
  • Scored 18 total goals as a defenseman
  • Played Club with Team Illinois and was a Team Illinois Showcase All-Star
 
Ian Greenwell * Defense * Green Bay, Wisc. * Bay Port
  • A varsity letterwinner in hockey and lacrosse
  • A two-time team captain and USA Academic All-American
  • Posted a school-record 142 caused turnovers and 279 ground balls in his career
  • Named the Fox River Classic Conference Player of the Tear and Team MVP as a senior after registering 64 caused turnovers and 122 ground balls
  • As a junior, he was a All-Conference, Team MVP and a WLF State All-Conference Showcase selection
  • Played club with Sconnie and Alpha Lacrosse
 
Rico Hart * Midfield/Attack * Rochester, Mich. * Rochester Adams
  • Lettered in football, wrestling and lacrosse
  • Selected All-State as a sophomore and also twice All-Conference
  • Tallied 326 career points, including 143 as a senior
  • Holds the record for the most goals in a game

Conner Kunce * Midfield * Ponte Verda, Fla. * Nease
  • Earned three varsity letters in lacrosse
  • Tabbed Second Team All-State as a junior and senior and Honorable Mention as a sophomore
  • Tallied a school-record 291 wins as a junior with 169 ground balls
  • Played club with Florida Lax National Pink and True Florida and was an Inside Lacrosse All-Star
 
Canton Lanham * Midfield * Louisville, Ky. * Trinity
  • A four-year letterwinner in lacrosse
  • Guided his team to a state title as a senior
  • Earned All-American accolades as a senior and was twice tabbed All-Kentucky at faceoff
  • Tabbed the FOGO of the Year as a junior in Kentucky and was the Face Off Academy Group G champion in 2022       
 
Madden Leslie * Midfield/Attack * Rockford, Mich. * Rockford
  • Earned letters in football and lacrosse
  • A team captain who helped his team to a regional championship as a freshman and senior
  • Selected All-State as a junior and senior
  • Posted 143 goals and 58 assists in his career
  • Played club with Omnia and True Lacrosse
 
Sam McNeely * Midfield * Prosper, Tex. * Prosper
  • A four-year varsity letterwinner
  • Honored with the "WE" Award, given out after each game to a player that displays the true values of Prosper Lacrosse
  • Played club with Sentry Lacrosse
 
Andrew Parker * Midfield/Attack * Lake Orion, Mich. * Lake Orion
  • Lettered in football and lacrosse
  • Posted 157 goals, 82 assists, 158 ground balls and 52 caused turnovers in his prep career
  • Tabbed team MVP as a junior and senior
  • Guided his team to three-straight regional titles and a state runner-up appearance
  • Selected Third Team All-State and First Team All-OAA as a senior after recording 46 goals, 34 assists, 68 ground balls and 17 caused turnovers
  • Named Honorable Mention All-State and First Team All-Conference as a junior after setting a school-record with 104 points on 69 goals and 35 assists
  • Played club with Omnia and helped the team win the 2024 Legends Tournament and runner-up in the Project Midwest Challenge
 
Conner Stevens * Midfield/Attack * Celina, Tex. * Prosper
  • Lettered in football and lacrosse
  • A two-time team captain and Team MVP as a senior
  • Tabbed All-District as a senior
  • Tallied 97 goals and 67 assists in his career
 
Ryan Sullivan * Attack * Novi, Mich. * Catholic Central (Michigan)
  • A graduate transfer from Michigan, who missed a couple of seasons due to an injury
  • Saw action in three games as a sophomore and had an assist against Holy Cross
  • A four-year letterwinner in lacrosse as a prep and helped his team to a state championship as a junior and runner-up as a senior
  • Selected a US Lacrosse All-American, First Team All-State and All-Catholic as a senior
  • Tallied 132 goals, 80 assists and 212 points in high school career
  • Played club with Laxachusetts
 
Jack Szalanski * Defense * Rochester, Mich. * Detroit Country Day
  • A varsity letterwinner in bowling, football and lacrosse
  • Helped his team to a state title as a senior and back-to-back runner-up efforts as a sophomore and junior
  • Was tabbed an Inside Lacrosse 85 overall, a TI Midwest Showcase All-Star, Can-AM Showcase All-Star, a Philly Summer Showcase All-Star and a ECD All-American All-Showcase Team as a junior
