INDIANAPOLIS –
Detroit Mercy women's soccer midfielder Abbey Lodato, defender Leila Lanier, and sophomore midfielder Camryn Pepper were named to the Valeo #HLWSOC All-Academic Team as voted on by each member institution's Faculty Athletics Representative and announced by the league office.
 
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, have earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests or 20 percent of overall contests for pitchers. An Honorable Mention is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of the votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
 
Lodato, a senior from Clawson, Mich., holds a 3.27 GPA in Nursing and is a two-time Horizon League Honor Roll Fall and Spring selection and three-time Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Honor Roll selection. She is also a two-time #HLWSOC All-League First Team selection (2023, 2024) and was named 2022 Horizon League Freshman of the Year.
 
2025 Highlights:
• Leads the team in points (21 – T-2nd HL), goals (8 – T-2nd HL), assists (5 – T-4th HL), and game-winning goals (2 – T-3rd HL).
• Recorded fifth assist in 2-1 setback against #HLWSOC leader Milwaukee (10/9).
• Scored two goals in a game three times this season vs CSU (9/18), Madonna (9/11), and Valpo (8/14).
• Posted five points in a game for the second time in her career with two goals and an assist on Senior Night in 8-0 win vs Madonna (9/11).
• Added third assist vs CSU (9/18).
• Recorded first assist of the season at WMU (9/7).
• Posted third goal off a free kick against BGSU (8/28).
• Scored a pair of goals off a free kick, followed by a penalty kick, propelling Detroit Mercy to a 2-1 win over former Horizon League foe Valparaiso (8/14) in the season-opener.
 
PK Specialist:
• Lodato has scored five of her seven goals on penalty kicks.
• Recorded fifth PK goal at PFW (10/25).
• Added her third and fourth penalty kick goals in a 3-3 draw vs CSU (9/18).
• Posted second PK goal in 8-0 win over Madonna (9/11).
• Scored first penalty kick goal in 2-1 win over former Horizon League foe Valparaiso (8/14).
 
Lanier, a junior from Rochester Hills, Mich., holds a 3.90 GPA in Business, is a Horizon League Honor Roll Fall and Spring selection, and a two-time Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Honor Roll selection. She is also a 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Team selection, a 2024 Horizon League Second Team All-League selection, and a 2023 Horizon League All-Freshman team selection.
 
2025 Highlights:
• Saw action in 16 games with 11 starts, scoring her first goal of the season at YSU (9/28) from her defensive position while anchoring the back line to notch two shutouts on the season.
 
Pepper, a sophomore from Birmingham, Mich., holds a perfect 4.00 GPA in Biology and is a Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Honor Roll selection.
 
2025 Highlights:
• Saw action in all 17 games with one start.
• Scored first career goal in UDM's 8-0 win over Madonna.
