Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Four Titans Net Double Figures In Setback At Toledo

TOLEDO, Ohio (11/15/2025) -- Four Titans were in double figures, and the UDM took a lead in the second half, but could not finish it off as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team dropped a 90-83 decision at Toledo on Saturday.

Senior Orlando Lovejoy led the team with 18 points and also had five assists and two steals, and sophomore TJ Nadeau netted 15 points and pulled down five boards. Junior Ayden Carter had 12 points and six rebounds, while freshman Lance Stone finished with 11 points.

It was a back-and-forth game, but Toledo (2-2) led by as many as nine in the first half at 21-12 when junior London Maiden had two-straight buckets and Stone hit a three. Stone would also make it a one-possession game at 34-31 with another triple, and freshman Keshawn Fisher went inside for a layup to cut it to 34-33, but the Rockets went into the half up 41-37.

Redshirt freshman Tyler Spratt started the second half with a basket, but Toledo went up by eight, 49-41. UDM responded with eight straight as Spratt had four of his eight in that span, and a driving layup from Lovejoy tied the game with 15:09 left.

Carter gave the Titans a lead after a Nadeau steal led to a layup, putting them ahead 55-54 at the 13:17 mark. Detroit Mercy also had a 64-63 lead off a Stone three with 11:30 remaining, but the Rockets jumped ahead again.

Off an offensive rebound, junior Nate Johnson went inside for a layup, and  UDM was down by just one, 69-68, with 7:19 left, and another score by Lovejoy trimmed the deficit to 81-76 with 2:31 on the clock, but that was as close as the red, white and blue would get.

Spratt had a team-high eight rebounds to go with his eight points. Maiden had seven points, and freshman Je'kel Cotton recorded five.

Detroit Mercy shot 45.1% from the field and was 8-of-25 from three.

The Titans will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 18, when they host long-time rival Eastern Michigan at historic Calihan Hall. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. on Dick Vitale Court.

Game Notes:
  • The match-up between the Titans and Rockets was the 65th in this rivalry that dates back to 1916, as Toledo now leads the all-time series, 40-25, including 25-7 at home
