Titans Drop Battle At #17/18 Michigan State

EAST LANSING, Mich. (11/21/2025) -- Senior Orlando Lovejoy led Detroit Mercy with 14 points, but it was not enough as the high-powered, nationally-ranked Spartans took control from the very start in an 84-56 contest on Friday night at Michigan State.

Lovejoy also had four assists and three steals. Junior Ayden Carter and sophomore TJ Nadeau each had 10 points, with Carter adding two assists and two steals, and sophomore Nate Johnson had seven points and four boards.

MSU (5-0) started the game with 10-straight points and led by 13, 19-5, just nine minutes in.

UDM (1-5) cut it to eight with baskets from Lovejoy and Carter, but the Spartans would take a 41-25 lead into the break.

In the second half, Lovejoy hit a jumper, and a steal from Carter led to a layup from freshman Xavier Istomin-Monroe, and the Titans trailed 47-31.

MSU then ran its lead to as many as 29.

Freshman Lance Stone scored five points, and Istomin-Monroe had four points and three boards. Senior Legend Geeter pulled down a team-high six rebounds, and sophomore Ryan Kalambay had four.

Detroit Mercy will now travel to DePaul on Sunday in a 6:00 p.m. tip.
