YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (5/10/2025) -- Sophomore Joshua Neary and graduate senior Simon Jones each tallied points for the Titans as the University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team finished up day two of the Horizon League Outdoor Championships.
Neary came away with a bronze in the decathlon, totaling 5,640 points, fifth in school history. He finished it off in style by winning the 1,500 meters in 4:50.41.
Jones also claimed points in the event by taking fifth with a score of 4,071, as he had his best event with a third-place finish in the pole vault at 3.80m.
Junior Jaden McKenzie won his heat and posted the top time in the 400-meter preliminaries as he clocked a 48.36 and was 10th in the 200m in 21.99.
Freshman James Wallace was sixth in the 100-meter preliminaries to earn a spot in the finals with a time of 10.76 and just missed the 200m qualifier, taking ninth in 21.80.
Freshman Luke Bracket just missed qualifying in the 110-meter hurdles by finishing ninth in 15.53, while senior Ashwin Philip placed 21st in the 800m in 1:56.77.
The final day of the event will begin at 10:00 a.m., tomorrow.
