SYRACUSE, N.Y. (5/3/2025) -- The University of Detroit Mercy's men's lacrosse team saw its magic run come to an end in the Northeast Conference Championship as the Titans fell to Robert Morris, 17-8, on Saturday afternoon.
The game was played at Ted Grant Field on the campus of Le Moyne in Syracuse, New York.
Freshman
Andrew Parker had two goals and two assists, while senior
Aidan Bishop had two goals and a helper.
Senior
Ryan Richters made 10 saves with four ground balls, and junior
Kyle Grant had two caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Detroit Mercy (6-7) scored first as Parker fired one in just a little more than a minute into the contest, but Robert Morris (11-5) answered with 10 straight. The Titans got a couple before the break as senior
Chase Mahabir netted a goal, and Bishop beat the keeper to make it 11-3.
UDM started to get into a rhythm in the second half as Parker found freshman
Malakhi Berry for a marker, and off a caused turnover by
Jackson Ewald, Bishop set up senior
Nolan Graalman, and his goal made it an 11-5 game at the 8:49 mark.
The Titans inched closer late in the period as Parker buried his second and then located Bishop, who laced one in to trim the deficit to 12-7.
That was as close as the red, white and blue would get as redshirt freshman
Marcus Thundercloud added the last goal midway through the fourth.
Sophomore
Gavin Moore ended with a caused turnover and three ground balls. Berry had a pair of takeaways for the second straight game, and Ewald finished with a career-high two caused turnovers and career-best three GB's.
After the game, Parker, Richters and Grant were all named to the NEC All-Tournament Team.
The Titans had the edge in ground balls, 38-37, and were narrowly outshot, 40-39.
Detroit Mercy finished its season with six wins - the most since 2019 - and made its fourth trip to a conference championship game.
