Belliveau Tabbed MVP In Leading Calgary To Legendary Minto Cup Title

Tommy Thompson (L), Dylan Belliveau (R) were members of the 2026 Minto Cup championships.
CALGARY, Alberta (8/24/2026) -- University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse sophomores Dylan Belliveau and Tommy Thompson will be heading back to campus as champions, as the pair helped the Calgary Raiders win the historic Minto Cup this past weekend.

The championship marked the first time a Calgary team has ever won the title in the event's 125 years of existence. The Minto Cup is the legendary title of the Canadian Junior A men's box lacrosse league.

Thompson played with the team from the start, but an injury limited his availability in the postseason.

Meanwhile, Belliveau earned MVP honors in helping the Raiders go 5-1 in the event to take home the championship. He posted 26 points on 22 assists and four goals, including three goals and 10 assists in the three-game championship finals against the Victoria Shamrocks.

In game one, he handed out six assists in the 9-7 win. He added two more helpers in the 14-6 Game 2 setback, setting up the decisive final game, where he had a goal and four more helpers in the 9-6 victory.

As freshmen, both Titans were members of the NEC All-Rookie Team. Belliveau registered 19 points on 10 goals and nine assists, while picking up 13 ground balls, and Thompson tallied six caused turnovers, eight ground balls, and three points on two goals and an assist from his defensive midfielder position.
