Adamczyk, Jones Collect Points As Titans Open #HLTF Outdoor Championships

Senior Luke Adamczyk was seventh in the javelin

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (5/9/2025) -- Senior Luke Adamczyk and graduate senior Simon Jones posted points for the Titans in the javelin as the University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team started the Horizon League Outdoor Championships on Friday.

The event is being held at Farmers National Bank Field at Youngstown State.

Adamczyk placed seventh with a throw of 45.77 meters, while Jones was right behind him in eighth at 44.10m.

Jones also opened the decathlon and is in fifth with 2,835 points, with sophomore teammate Joshua Neary ahead of him in third with 3,142 points.

Neary had the best finish, earning second in the 400-meters in a career-best 52.22, while taking third in the long jump (6.07m) and fourth in the high jump (1.70m) and 100m (11.34). Jones had a third-place effort in the 100m (11.30) and was fourth in the long jump (6.05m) and shot put (10.74m).

Sophomore Anthony Yip just missed the podium, placing ninth in the discus (42.85m) and javelin (40.42m). Freshman Ryan Belanger claimed 15th in the 10,000m in 31:42.31, while freshman Nicholas Yaquinto was 21st in the 1500m in 4:07.58.

Day two of the championships will begin at 9:00 a.m.
