Grant Ends 2025 Top Five In The Nation In Caused Turnovers

Junior Kyle Grant was top five in DI in ttakeaways this past season.

INDIANAPOLIS (6/6/2025) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team saw one student-athlete finish in the top five, another in the top 15, and rank top 15 in Division I in a few statistical categories.

As a team, UDM was just outside the top 10, tallying 9.54 caused turnovers per game for 11th in the NCAA and tops in the NEC, while placing 14th in DI and second in the conference with 13.00 saves per game.

Kyle Grant

The junior led the NEC and was fifth in the nation with 2.00 caused turnovers per game
His 26 total takeaways were tied for 15th in the NCAA and was the eighth-best mark in school history
Was seventh in the league and 78th in DI with 3.38 ground balls per game
His six caused turnovers in the season opener at Ohio State were tied for the third most in the nation and the second most in school history

Ryan Richters

Ended a great career, finishing second in the NEC and 11th in the country with 12.85 saves per game
Also third in the conference and 23rd in the country with a .537 save percentage
Tied for ninth in the NEC with 3.08 ground balls per game
In his two years in the Motor City, Richters broke the school record with 13.62 saves per game, was fourth with 354 saves, third at a .512 save percentage, fourth with a 13.06 goals-against average mark, and fifth with 3.04 GB's per contest

Marcus Thundercloud

The redshirt freshman's 2.20 goals per game was fifth in the conference and 57th in DI
Also ranked 10th in the league with 2.40 points per game, and seventh in the NEC, and 78th in the nation, with a .355 shot percentage

Chase Mahabir

The senior's 37 points was seventh in the NEC
His 2.85 points per game was eighth
Was ninth in the league with 25 goals, tied for ninth with 13 assists, and 10th in the NEC, and 85th in the nation, with 1.92 goals per game

Ian Greenwell

The rookie concluded his freshman campaign eighth in the league with 15 caused turnovers
Was sixth in the NEC and 85th in the country with 1.15 takeaways per game
Placed 12th in the league with 34 ground balls and 2.62 GB's per game
