Ewald, Henige Tabbed USILA Scholar All-Americans

LOUISVILLE (7/8/2026) -- Two University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse seniors received one of the highest academic awards in the sport as Jackson Ewald and Sean Henige were named Scholar All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.

The pair are the 10th and 11th student-athletes in school history to earn the honor in Chase Mahabir (2025), Kyle Loken (2024), Luke Majick (2024), Ryan Birney (2023), Paul Manuszak (2022), Alex Akins (2021), Matthew Vangalen (2019), Paul Bitetti(2016), and Jordan Houtby (2013).

The two Titans were also a part of 13 student-athletes from the Northeast Conference to receive the award.

A Biology major, Ewald saw action in all 13 games as a defensive midfielder and had seven caused turnovers and 10 ground balls. He ended his career with 16 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls in 49 career games, and was selected Second Team All-NEC as a junior.

Pursuing his MBA, Henige played in 12 games, making nine starts, and was tied for third on the team with nine caused turnovers and tied for sixth with 19 ground balls. He finished his career playing in 50 career games, starting 44, and registering 43 caused turnovers - ninth in school history - and 86 ground balls.
