Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Titans Torment Vikings For First Sweep Of CSU Since 2018-19

DETROIT (1/11/2026) -- Five Titans scored in double figures, led by redshirt freshman Tyler Spratt's career-high 19 points, as the University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team completed the regular-season sweep of the Cleveland State with a 94-84 victory at Calihan Hall on Sunday night.

The 94 points were the most scored since beating Eastern Michigan on the road in overtime, 98-89, last season, and were the most scored at home against a Division I team since defeating Green Bay, 101-83, in 2019

Spratt was 5-of-10 from the field and 4-of-8 from three. Senior Orlando Lovejoy tallied 18 points, a career-best eight steals, a career-tying nine assists, and a season-high seven rebounds. The eight steals were the most against a Division I team in school history, most by a Titan since 2017, and two off the school record.

Sophomore Ryan Kalambay posted his second career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to go with two blocks and a steal, while senior Legend Geeter registered eight points, nine rebounds, and four assists, and junior London Maiden added nine points and four boards.

The Titans (7-9, 4-3 HL) were up 18-16 when they took their first double-digit lead with a 10-0 run. Freshman Lance Stone started it with a jumper, and then Geeter grabbed an offensive rebound and was fouled, hitting two free throws. Maiden then had back-to-back baskets, and, off another offensive board, Stone nailed a jumper, and it was a 28-16 lead midway through the first.

Detroit Mercy would run its advantage to 16, 36-20, with an 8-0 run highlighted by two straight steals from Lovejoy that led to a pair of dunks from freshman Keshawn Fisher.

Cleveland State (5-13, 1-6 HL) would trim it down to just six at the break, 46-40, but sophomore TJ Nadeau started the second with a three. Lovejoy again was a menace on defense with two straight steals leading to back-to-back layups, and the red, white, and blue led 53-40.

Detroit Mercy would run the margin to 14, 64-50, as Maiden made two free throws with 13:49 left, and then to 17, 70-53, as Stone also hit a pair.

The Titans then put the game away off the back of Spratt, who scored 14 of his 19 points in an 18-8 spurt to extend the lead to 23, 88-65, with 5:12 remaining, as they cruised to a win.

Stone tied his season-high with 11 points. Fisher had 10 points, and Nadeau ended up with eight points and four boards.

The Titans tied their season-high with 11 steals and recorded a season-best 23 assists, while dominating the boards 49-27. Detroit Mercy shot 44.6% from the field, made a season-best 26-of-31 at the line, and connected on a season-best 10-of-22 from behind the arc.

Detroit Mercy will now prepare for a pair of road games, visiting NKU on Thursday and IU Indy on Saturday.
