Maya Anderson reached double-figures for the third straight game, posting a career-high 14 points on 7-for-8 from the free throw line and 3-for-7 from the field as Detroit Mercy battled hard but came up short at Milwaukee, 76-68, in #HLWBB action on Thursday night at the Klotsche Center.

Detroit Mercy's (4-15, 2-8 HL) defense was on point, with seven steals while adding 22 points off 15 Milwaukee (7-14, 3-7 HL) turnovers. The Titans also had 14 offensive rebounds, leading to a 16-5 second-chance points advantage while only committing a season-low eight turnovers.
The game came down to a late Milwaukee run that proved to be the difference. Edwards connected on a put-back layup, tying the game at 64-64 with 4:18 left. The Panthers went on a 7-0 spurt while the Titans didn't connect from the field until Anderson stole the ball and hit a lay-up with 42 seconds left. She added a pair of free throws with 23 ticks remaining with UDM trailing 72-68. The Titans were then forced to foul to extend the game, where Milwaukee hit five free throws to seal the game.
In the third quarter, Anderson hit the 3-point shot, giving her 10 points and double figures for the third consecutive game. Milwaukee moved ahead by 10 points at the 5:23 mark. The Titans chipped away, closing the gap to 57-52 off a Diawara layup. Jackson then hit a clutch 3-pointer to beat the buzzer, pulling the Titans within four points, 59-55, going into the fourth.
In the first half, the Titans opened the game with a 3-pointer from Burrell, followed by an and-1 conversion from senior
Myonna Hooper that gave the Titans an early 9-1 lead. The Panthers responded with a 12-2 run to take the lead at 12-11. Milwaukee moved ahead 21-16 before Jackson grabbed a rebound and connected on an and-1 putback and hit the ensuing free throw, cutting the deficit to seven points, 24-17, at the end of the frame.
Lassan hit a driving layup, followed by back-to-back 3-pointers from Jackson, capping off a 10-2 run for a 27-26 lead to open the second quarter. After not scoring for over four minutes, the Panthers responded with 9-0 of their own to retake the lead at 34-27. Jackson hit her third 3-ball, followed by two free throws from Burrell and four more from Anderson, capping off a 10-2 run, giving UDM a 37-36 lead. Jackson added her 16th point off a layup, tying the game at 39-39, before the Panthers connected on a buzzer-beating layup to lead 41-39 at the break.
