Tom Nkassa picked the perfect time to score his first career goal in the 83rd minute, followed by the equalizer from sophomore
Thero Mitchell III just three minutes later, giving the Titans a thrilling 2-2 draw at Northern Illinois on Wednesday evening at the NIU Soccer and Track & Field Complex.

Colin Monroe posted a season-high six saves.

Nate Kopunek. "Everyone played their role today and brought energy in the second half to make an awesome comeback draw. Great to see Tom get rewarded with a goal after playing a fantastic overall game. Now we focus on recovery and an important match on the weekend!"
Northern Illinois (6-3-2, 3-1-2 HL) got on the board in the 43rd minute to lead 1-0 at halftime.
The Huskies added a penalty kick goal in the 67th minute to move ahead 2-0.
UDM (2-7-3, 1-3-1 HL) made its move when the ball was put back into the box from a corner kick clear that deflected through traffic, where Nkassa was able to head it home, cutting the deficit in half at 2-1.
In the 86th minute, Kamugunga got the ball just inside the box and slotted it over to Floyd, who flicked it over to Mitchell III, who fired a shot into the lower right 90, tying the game at 2-2.
Just two minutes later, Kamugunga was almost the hero as he got into the box on the left side and ripped a shot that bounced off the left corner crossbar.
Detroit Mercy returns to Titan Field for a match against Wright State on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m.
