Biography

2008-09: Finished second on the team with 25 total victories as well as in singles play with 12 wins…Played primarily at the No. 2 slot in singles, although he did have a bout at No. 1 coming away with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Jeffrey Seevers of St. Francis (PA)…Exploded on the scene in his first collegiate event, the Detroit Titan Fall Invitational, winning all four of his singles matches en route to the No. 3 flight title...Took out Wayne State’s Kevin Turnbull 6-2, 6-3, in his first-ever match...All four of his victories at the home invite were two-set sweeps... During the dual season, he won five singles matches, including four in a row at one point…Rallied to down Tariq Ismail 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, in the night’s last contest propelling Detroit to a 4-3 victory over visiting Youngstown State for its first win of the season as well as the first Titan conference win since 1993….Went 13-13 in doubles, with a 12-13 mark playing alongside Titan teammate Pjotrs Necajevs…Teamed with Necajevs to reach the finals of the Ball State Fall Invite, knocking of Purdue’s No. 1 doubles team, as well as the number one seeded team in tournament, 9-8 (9) in the first round... Selected for participation in 2008 ITA Midwest Regional in doubles where he and Necajevs teamed for a 9-8 (9) victory over Louisville’s tandem of Adam Donaldson and Tim Barnoud in the first round of competition…That duo also secured a conference win taking out YSU’s Steve D'Angelo and Robert Emig, 8-3…His second HL doubles win came with David Stabely as the Titan tandem defeated Valparaiso’s Kevin DeHerrera and Kyle Stump 9-8 (3) at No. 2… Also earned AD honor roll accolades.

Prior to Detroit: A talented and gifted left-hander, Goldenberg was a four-year letterwinner in tennis under coach Greg Kopec at West Bloomfield High School, where he played with current Titan teammate Adam Williams…As a senior, he took home all-state and all-OAA accolades after posting a 17-10 mark at No. 1, including winning 10 of his last 12 matches…Three of his losses came at the hands of the state champion…Posted a 23-6 record as a junior in the No. 3 position… Listed as one of the top 50 recruits in the Great Lakes and top 15 in the state of Michigan…Also garnered OAA scholar athlete honors all four years... A member of the DECA and the National Honor Society.

Personal: Son of Lisa Goldenberg... Hobbies include playing tennis, listening to music and watching movies ...
