2015: Battled injuries to run in four races… Scored in the top five on two occasions… Started the year taking fifth in the 4-mile Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational with a time of 20:33… Claimed 77th at the National Catholic Championship with a time of 26:45… Recorded 51st at the Horizon League Championship in 26:53… A member of the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and the Horizon League Fall & Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2014: Did not run all season due to injury… A member of the Detroit Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Horizon League Fall & Spring Academic Honor Roll... Awarded the Academic Excellence Award for being on the four-year AD's Honor Roll at the Annual Academic & Athletic Awards Dinner.
2013: Earned the Coach’s Award at the annual team banquet… A break out season that saw him finish in the top two on the team in seven of UDM’s eight races, including leading the squad on two occasions… Was First Team All-Horizon League after taking fourth at the HL Championship in 26:03… Became the 17th Titan in school history to finish in the top 100 at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional claiming 98th in a career-best 32:57 in the 10k race… Finished runner-up at the 27th Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titan Invitational in 20:49… Set his 8k career run at the National Catholic Championship placing 17th in 25:56… Led Detroit at the 5.2-mile Penn State National finishing sixth in 26:45… Came back the following week to lead UDM again by taking sixth at the EMU Classic in 15:21… Was top 10 at the Golden Grizzly Open securing fifth in 16:13…A member of the Detroit Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Horizon League Fall Academic Honor Roll and the HL Fall Academic All-League Team.
2012: Shared the team’s Coach’s Award with teammate George Holman… Had an impressive season setting a personal record in all but one race on the year…His 8k career mark was a 26:22 time at the Greater Louisville Classic for 99th, and he also had a PR in the 4-mile at the Golden Grizzly Open (20:07) finishing 10th in the race… Placed 34th at the Horizon League Championship in 26:41…At the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, he ran a 34:30 for 152nd… Earned a spot on the Detroit Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
2011: Top Titan at the Michigan Intercollegiate taking 58th in 27:55... 8k PR of 27:35 at National Catholics... 47th place Horizon League finish in 29:02... Did not finish 10k at NCAA Great Lakes Regional.
High School: 2010 state qualifier in cross country... 4x800 relay qualifier in track and field during the 2011 season.
Personal: Son of Cathleen and Edward Hofsess... His older sister Rachel was a senior on the UDM cross country & track and field teams from 2010-14... A Nursing major.
