Biography

Made her mark as not only one of the best players in Titan history, but in the Horizon League...A two-time All-Horizon League golfer and a two-time All-HL Tournament performer… Was the No. 1 player for Detroit for three straight years, leading the team in stroke average since her sophomore season… Prior to her senior year, she ended summer play by reaching the second round of matches at the Michigan Women’s Amateur Championship and finishing runner-up at the Golf Association of Michigan Championship…

2010-11: Honored at the 2011 President’s Award winner given to UDM's most outstanding senior student-athletes, who demonstrate what it means to be a true Titan…Stefan will go down as one of the most decorated golfers in not only the young history of the Titans, but also in the Horizon League…Ended her career by leading the team with a 79.3 stroke average, with 13 rounds of her 27 in the 70’s…Was the top Titan in 10 of Detroit’s 12 events, claiming medalist honors three times…Placed in the top 10 seven times and in the top five four times…Earned Horizon League All-Tournament honors by taking fourth at the Horizon League Championship with a 238 (75, 81, 82)…Her 75 in the opening round was the fourth best in the championship…She won the Don Benbow by carding a 150 (78, 72) en route to being named the HL Player of the Week…The 72 was a season best…She then defended her Titans Invitational title winning on a playoff after posting a 238 (83, 81, 74)…Was also the top golfer in the Dual vs. IPFW with an 83…Tied for second and helped Detroit with the IPFW Spring Classic with a 158 (83, 75), and was once again honored as the conference’s POW…Placed seventh in the Sunshine Spring Classic after shooting a 162 (78, 84)…Shot a season-low 236 (76, 81, 79), tying her with teammate Lindsey Lammers, for the team lead at the Redbird Invitational…The top UDM golfer in the dual against Oakland, finishing with a 156 (80, 76) for a share of third, as well as in the Zippy Invitational, where she tied her season-best carding a 236 (78, 81, 77) for a tie of sixth place…A member of the UDM Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the fourth-straight season, as well as a member of the Horizon League’s Fall Academic Honor Roll…Also honored by the National Golf Coaches Association with a selection to their Women's All-American Scholar Team.

2009-10: Peaked at absolutely the best time as she became the first Titan ever to win the Horizon League individual championship, in turn, leading Detroit to the team title… Matched her career-low with a 73 to open the conference tournament, then followed with rounds of 77 and 76 for a 226 total, good enough for a three-shot victory over teammate Marni Achterhoff… That earned her a berth on the All-Tournament Team as well as a second straight All-League award as voted on by the HL coaches… Also won medalist honors at the Titans invitational with a 75-79-154 card, and posted Top 10 finishes at Chicago State (T-9) and Dayton (T-5) as well… Led the team with an 81.4 stroke average for the season…

2008-09: Averaged a team- and career-best 80.4 stroke average over 10 events for the Titans en route to being named All-Horizon League by the HL coaches... Captured the Chicago State Fall Invitational medal after firing an 18-hole total of 74, which matched a career-low at the time... Placed fifth at the Titan Invitational after posting a two-day total of 156 (76-80) for her second Top 10 finish during fall campaign... She posted two more scores in the top 10 in the spring as she grabbed third place at the North/South Intercollegiate and second at Butler… Shot a career-low 73 in the final round at the North/South… Took 11th place at the Horizon League Championship to lead the way for the Titans…

2007-08: One of three Titans to play all 24 rounds... Ended fourth on the team with a 82.4 scoring average... Finished in the Top 20 for nine events and in the Top 10 twice... Fired a season-low 18-hole score of 74 at IPFW to end as Detroit’s top finisher (154), in a tie for eighth place... Had best finish at Grand Valley State, third place, after posting a two-day total of 150... Tied for 20th in the last three tournaments, including the Horizon League Championship where she fired a 261…

Personal: A 2007 graduate of Farmington Mercy High School... Four-year varsity letter winner in golf... Earned first-team Division I All-State accolades as a senior after being named honorable mention in the previous two seasons... Finished eighth individually to help lead Mercy to sixth in the team standings at the 2007 state finals... Runner-up individually as Mercy won a regional Championship on the way to the finals senior season... Won third straight Catholic League individual championship, while pacing Mercy to its third consecutive team title in 2007... Helped lead Mercy to seventh place in the Division I state finals as a sophomore, and third place a year later... Led the Marlins to the 2006 Oakland County Division I Championship... Three-time all-area selection... Named All-Oakland County as a senior after receiving honorable mention recognition the previous season... Captured the 2006 Downriver Junior Championship, finished sixth at the Westfield PGA Junior Sectional and 13th at the GAM Girls Championship... Tied for 13th in stroke qualifying to reach match play at the 2007 Michigan Women’s Amateur... Played one year of varsity basketball at Mercy…Her older brother Kyle, who played college golf at Wayne State, serves as the Titans’ assistant coach... Majoring in nursing…
