Detroit Mercy Golf Tees Off New Era with Plum Hollow Partnership

DETROIT (6/22/2026) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's and women's golf teams will enter the fall season with a new home, as the Titans and Plum Hollow Country Club have agreed to a multi-year partnership.

"I would like to thank the members and Board of Directors of Plum Hollow, for their outstanding partnership, which will significantly enhance our program," said Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "We are also grateful to Assistant Director of Golf Chuck Batcheller '87 for his leadership and vision in bringing this to life. This is an exceptional facility that positions our teams to return to championship contention in the Horizon League."

"The Board of Directors and membership of Plum Hollow Country Club are excited to welcome the University of Detroit Mercy golf programs to our Club through this new partnership. This agreement reflects our shared commitment to excellence, tradition, and the development of young people through the game of golf. We are proud to provide a championship-caliber home for the Titans and believe this relationship will create meaningful opportunities for both organizations. Our members and Board are enthusiastic about this collaboration, and we look forward to building a strong and lasting partnership for many years to come."

Under the agreement, Detroit Mercy will have access to Plum Hollow's championship-caliber course, driving range, short-game complex, and training areas—giving student-athletes a consistent, elite environment to develop their games.

The partnership also creates a meaningful connection to the community, as Titan student-athletes will support and engage with Plum Hollow's junior golf programming.

Located in nearby Southfield, Plum Hollow Country Club is one of the most storied venues in American golf. Designed in 1921 by renowned architects Harry Colt and Charles Hugh Alison, the course has been recognized among Golf Digest's Top 100 and has hosted premier events, including the Ryder Cup, PGA Championship, Western Open, and U.S. Open qualifying.

For more than a century, Plum Hollow has been a cornerstone of Detroit's golf tradition—known for its championship pedigree and commitment to a first-class member experience.

"This is a game-changer for our program," said Director of Golf Jordan McArleton. "Plum Hollow is one of the top facilities in the region. Having a true home base for practice and development is invaluable, and it also allows our student-athletes to give back by working with and inspiring the next generation of golfers."

This agreement continues the upward trajectory of Detroit Mercy golf, joining recent program enhancements that include new locker room facilities, a dedicated hitting area, and the addition of TrackMan simulator technology.

Detroit Mercy has won seven Horizon League titles and has two HL individual winners in its men's history, while the women have won three conference titles and three individual medalists. UDM has also produced professionals across several leagues, including the PGA, and both programs are also among the top academic schools in the sport.
