Lindsey Lammers HS

Lindsey Lammers '14

Lindsey Lammers '14 took over the women's golf in the summer of 2021 and became the Assistant Director of Golf in the summer of 2002. She was inducted into the school's Hall Of Fame in February of 2023.

In 2022-23, sophomore Ariel Chang earned her first conference honor as she was tabbed First Team All-Horizon League, first Titan underclassman to earn All-League honors since 2015. Chang broke the school record with a 76.05 average as she started all nine events and recorded six top-10 finishes, including tying for sixth at the Horizon League Championships with a 229.

In her first season as head coach of the women's program in 2021-22, she led her team to five top-five finishes and the second best team average ever in school history at 314.1. She also guided the Titans to their second best 54-hole score with a 928 at Eastern Michigan and tying the Titan record book for the sixth best round with a 299 at Oakland and at EMU. Detroit Mercy also posted a 307 in the first round of the Horizon League Championship, the best round the Titans have recorded at the league event since 2013.

She also helped graduate senior Alexa Hatz earn All-League honors, the first Titan to be selected since 2017, and she was also All-Tournament after tying for fourth at the HL Championship, the first Titan All-Tournament honoree since 2015. Chang post three top-five finishes and a team-best 74.0 average in the fall, until an injury kept her out of the spring season. The red, white and blue also registered a 3.55 team GPA and saw Hatz and graduate senior Kendall Payne receive HL All-Academic accolades.

Detroit Mercy brought back Lammers to lead the women's golf program as she was a two-time Horizon League Player of the Year and the 2014 President Award winner.

"I am happy and excited that a former Titan is back to lead the program," said Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "Lindsey's career speaks for itself as not only one of the great Titans of all-time, but one of the best Horizon League players in conference history. Even more impressive are the high academic accolades that she received. Her career on and off the course and her character made her the right person to lead us back to a championship program."

Lammers had a decorated career as a Titan, both as an individual and a member of multiple championship teams, as well as off the links in the classroom. She played for the red, white and blue from 2010-2014 and re-wrote the Titan record book, while leading the squad to a pair of Horizon League titles and NCAA Regional appearances.

"I am super thrilled and honored to be back involved with the program, this time as head coach," said Lammers. "I had such an impactful four years at Detroit Mercy and have made lifelong friends because of my time on this team. As important as it is to me to bring back a winning culture in the women's golf program, it's even more important to me to foster an inclusive environment where the team can focus on being rockstar student-athletes and set up their life after college as well."

In her four years, she was honored twice as the HL Player of the Year (2013, 2014), just the fourth golfer in league history to win two Player of the Year accolades, and was just the ninth player – and the third Titan – to be named All-League three times. She also won two HL titles (2012, 2014) - one of three players in league history to win at least two individual championships - and was All-Tournament three times.

Lammers posted eight wins, 29 top-20 finishes and 25 top-10 efforts in 39 career events, with her eight wins the most in conference history and tied for 34th in the NCAA record book.

She is also the school record holder with a 77.7 career average and twice recorded the Titan single-season average record at 76.2 (2013, 2014). Lammers carded Detroit Mercy's best round ever with a 6-under 67 and the best 36-hole tournament mark of 140 (73-67) as a sophomore in 2011 at the Detroit Titans Fall Classic.

Off the links, she was a four-year member of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll and the Horizon League Fall and Spring Academic Honor Rolls and was a three-time HL All-Academic Team selection as well as a three-time All-American Scholar by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.

"Lindsey was probably the best women's golfer in Horizon League history and her attitude, work ethic and knowledge of the game will be great for the program," said former head coach and her coach at Detroit Mercy Terri Anthony-Ryan.

She ended her career with a historic year as a senior in 2014, guiding the Titans to defending their league championship, as she finished in the top 10 in 11 of her 12 tournaments on the year, with three wins. Her nine single-season top-10 finishes (with events with four or more teams) is tied for 29th in NCAA history. She also won the Horizon League Championship for the second time - which also was her school-record eighth career victory - by two shots with a career-best 228 (76-77-75), just two shots off another school record at the time.

As a junior, she posted a school-record 76.2 average with a pair of wins and that came after a sophomore campaign that saw her win the Horizon League Championship taking medalist honors with a 238 even though she missed the entire spring season with a wrist injury and had just three days of practice leading up to the event. In the fall, she won two of the Titans' four tournaments as she placed in the top 10 in 23 of her last 26 career events with eight wins and five runner-up efforts since her sophomore year.

After college, she continued playing golf and qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship in 2014. She was also an assistant coach with the program in 2015.

As a prep at Milan High School, she was All-Huron League, All-County and All-Region all four seasons, a two-time All-State selection and an All-State Super Team member as a senior as she won five high school tournament titles, including a regional in the 2009 state tournament. She also won the 2010 Michigan Girls' Junior State Amateur Championship while also reaching the semi-finals of the Michigan Women's Amateur during the summer before her freshman year. She was named the Region Golfer of the Year by the Monroe News as a junior and senior and the Washtenaw County Player of the Year as a senior in 2009.
