University of Detroit Mercy head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher has announced that Yar Shayok (Ottawa, ON/Hillcrest) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Titan basketball squad, beginning with the 2008-09 season.
"Yar will be one of the most gifted athletes to ever wear a Titan uniform," said Rademacher. "She is 6-1, runs the floor extremely well, is an outstanding rebounder, has the ability to score both inside and out and is an excellent student."

Will graduate from Hillcrest High School in June 2008... led the Hawks in points, rebounds and blocks the last two seasons... averaged 20.0 ppg and collected a season-high 34 points in 2008... named HHS MVP junior and senior seasons... selected to represent the Hawks on the East All-Star Team in Ottawa, Canada (2005-06)... garnered Player of the Game Award three years in a row (2005-07)... earned the Basketball Tournament MVP Award senior season... given the team hustle award in 2005... member of the Honor Society for three years (2006-08)... played for the Ottawa Celtics for four years and the Kanata Cavaliers for a season.
"Yar is a perfect fit for our system and we will look for her to contribute to our program immediately," added Rademacher.
Shayok joins the 2008-09 recruiting class which already consists of Lauren Allen (G, 5-8, Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester), Alex Moore (G, 5-6, Roseville, MN/St. Paul Johnson) and Jaleesa Trussell (F, 5-8, Racine, WI/Case).
