Men's Golf Places Third at John Dallio Memorial

The University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team moved up four spots to finish in third, out of 15 teams, at the John Dallio Memorial at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club in Lemont, IL.

The Titans ended with a team score of 875 (290-300-285), which was two strokes behind the winner, Nova Southeastern - ranked fifth nationally in Division II - that won a tiebreaker against Southern Illinois.

Sophomore Britt Pronk (London, ON/St. Thomas Aquinas) was Detroit's top finisher as he finished in second after posting a two-day career-low total of 211, which includes a career-best one round showing on Monday (68). Junior David Byrne (Essex, ON/Essex) was three strokes behind Pronk and placed third for UDM with scores of 68-77-69.

The Titans went into the John Dallio Memorial as the defending champions and their team score of 285 on Monday was eight strokes better than any of the other 14 teams.

Detroit will return to action when the Titans compete in the Cleveland State Invitational on Sept. 29-30 at the Sand Ridge Golf Course in Chardon, OH.
