Detroit Titans head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher was in familiar territory Thursday evening as the Titans faced Green Bay in Wisconsin, but UDM fell by a score of 62-43 in the Horizon League match-up at the Resch Center. Prior to coming to Detroit, Rademacher spent the previous four seasons with the Phoenix as an assistant coach.
Junior
Brigid Mulroy (West Bloomfield, MI/Marian), scored in double figures once again for the Titans (5-11, 1-4) as she poured in a team second-best 10 points. Mulroy scored seven-straight points for Detroit in a two-minute span in the first half to help tie the game at eight at the 12:21 mark. Senior
Sandi Brown (Toledo, OH/Start), who ended with a game-high 16 points, pushed Detroit ahead with a lay-up about two and a half minutes later (10-8), but that was the only lead the Titans would have the rest of the game.
Mulroy ended a 16-0 Green Bay scoring run in the closing seconds of the first half as she drained one from long range to put the halftime score at 24-13 in favor of the Phoenix (12-3, 4-0).
Green Bay had its largest lead of the contest (29) after freshman Hannah Quilling drained one of her four 3-pointers of the night at 7:28 of the second stanza to have the scoreboard read, 50-21. Junior
Chanica Hall (Minneapolis, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) scored the final five points of the game in the last 27 seconds and she went on to end the night with a game-high six assists.
Detroit shot 37 percent on the night, while Green Bay had a 21-of-47 showing from the field (45 percent). The Titans had a 32-28 advantage on the boards, while the Phoenix tallied seven steals to Detroit's five.
The Titans will return to action when they face Milwaukee on Jan. 17 at 3 p.m. EST at the Klotsche Center.
