Women's Hoops to Face Morehead State on the Road

SERIES RECORD
In the lone meeting between these two schools, Detroit captured a 60-54 victory over Morehead State on Dec. 17, 2008 at Calihan Hall. Brigid Mulroy led all scorers in the contest with 22 points, while sophomore Talicia Washington grabbed a team-best nine rebounds.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Morehead State (6-3) has won its last three games, including a 58-51 victory at Murray State on Dec. 5. The Eagles last loss was at home versus Kentucky on Nov. 17 (72-55) and MSU currently owns a 3-1 record when playing on its home court. Junior Chynna Bozeman leads the team in scoring average (17.6 ppg), while freshman Ashar Harris is averaging a team-best 10.6 rpg.

IS THAT ME? ON TV?

The Titans' game against the Eagles will be televised on Wazoo Sports Network on Sunday, which marks the first time Detroit has been on TV this season.

HORTEN CLEARLY HEARS A 'WHO'
Freshman Kassandra Hooten came off the bench against Bowling Green (Dec. 9) to score a team-high and personal-best 12 points after shooting 4-of-11 from the field and making her lone attempt from long range. She tied for a team-best seven rebounds and added one assist in 28 minutes of play.

ALLEN IN ACTION
Sophomore Lauren Allen tied her season high of made field goals (3) and 3-point field goals (2), versus Bowling Green (Dec. 9), while tallying a game-high of four steals, to match her personal-best.

BLOCK PARTY
Sophomore Yar Shayok collected a career-high and game-best two blocks against Bowling Green on Dec. 9.

FABULOUS FAMBRO
Freshman Demeisha Fambro netted a game-high 22 points, which included a flawless 5-of-5 showing at the line, against Eastern Michigan (Dec. 5). Fambro was one rebound shy of collecting a double-double as she grabbed a team third-best nine boards and she also tallied a game-high four steals against the Eagles.

STONER'S DEBUT
Sophomore walk-on Jaimee Stoner made her collegiate debut on Dec. 5 against Eastern Michigan. Stoner saw 13 minutes of action, collected one steal and netted her first collegiate basket off an assist from former walk-on, senior Brigid Mulroy.

BEST IN THE NATION
In the latest NCAA National Rankings (thru Dec. 6), senior Brigid Mulroy ranks fifth in 3-point field goal pct. (.600) and 11th in 3-point field goals made (3.5/gm). In addition, as a team, the Titans are 38th in the nation in 3-point field goal pct. (.376).

IS SANTA MISSING A HELPER?
Sophomore Jalesa Jones dished out a team-high five assists against Eastern Michigan on Dec. 5 and a team-best four helpers versus Bowling Green (Dec. 9). Jones has 34 assists thus far this season and is currently ranked second in the Horizon League as she is averaging 4.9 apg.

ALL BOARDED UP
Sophomore Yar Shayok has grabbed double figure rebounds in every game, except for two. She set a career-high of 14 at Oakland (Nov. 13), grabbed 10 at against both Michigan State (Nov. 15) and Cincinnati (Nov. 21), pulled down a game-high 12 caroms at Indiana State (Dec. 1) and then collected a game-best 13 rebounds against EMU (Dec. 5).

WHERE IN THE HORIZON LEAGUE?
As of Dec. 11, senior Brigid Mulroy is first among conference peers in 3-point field goal pct. (.611) and sits second among conference peers in both scoring (16.1 ppg) and 3-point field goals made (3.1/gm). In addition, Mulroy is sixth in field goal percentage (.519) and seventh in defensive rebounds (4.3/gm). Sophomore Yar Shayok is currently tied for first in the Horizon League in rebounds (10.0 rpg), is 11th in scoring (12.7 ppg), second in defensive rebounds (6.7/gm) and is tied for sixth in offensive rebounds (3.3/gm). In addition, sophomore Jalesa Jones is second in assists (4.9 apg) and is sixth in assist/turnover ratio (1.4), while freshman Demeisha Fambro is 17th in scoring (11.3 ppg).

BOARD WORK, NOT BRIDGE WORK
Senior Brigid Mulroy pulled down a career-high and game second-best 12 rebounds against Eastern Michigan on Dec. 5.

DOUBLE OR NOTHING
Sophomore Yar Shayok collected her third double-double of the season as she scored a team second-best 19 points and pulled down a game-high 13 caroms versus Eastern Michigan on Dec. 5.

MOVIN' ON UP
Senior Brigid Mulroy currently owns 90 career 3-point field goals, which is five away from tying Terri Ford (1986-90) and current graduate assistant, Katie Solner (2002-05), for ninth place in Detroit's record books.

THREE'S ANYONE?
Senior Brigid Mulroy made all three attempts from long range at Cincinnati (Nov. 21), while sophomore Yar Shayok and freshmen Demeisha Fambro, as well as Cherridy Thornton all netted one trey each against the Bearcats. Thornton's 3-pointer pulled Detroit within one late in the second half after being down by 17 points to Cincinnati.

LONE SENIOR HONORED
Senior guard Brigid Mulroy came out of the gate rearing to go in Detroit's opening week as she averaged 20.5 points in the two games. For her efforts, Mulroy was named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Nov. 16 and also earned the Horizon League Network's “The People's Choice” honor (Nov. 19).

MORE MULROY
Mulroy opened the 2009-10 campaign with a team third-best 14-point effort in Detroit's 74-65 win at Oakland on Nov. 13 and, two days later, in UDM's home opener, she shot 8-of-11 from the field, including 4-of-5 from long range, and made all seven attempts at the line to end with a career-high and game-best 27 points versus #10 Michigan State. The eight made field goals matches her career-high and the seven free throws is a new personal best for Detroit's lone senior.

NOT TOO SHABBY

Detroit led by as much as nine against #10 Michigan State on Nov. 15 and the Titans had a one-point advantage at the break (37-36).

DOUBLE OR NOTHING
Sophomore Yar Shayok, whose 2008-09 season was cut short due to an injury, made a huge impact for the Titans against Oakland on Nov. 13 as she collected a double-double with game-highs in both points and rebounds with 26 and 14, respectively. Shayok shot 11-of-14 from the field, 4-of-5 from the line and 10 of her caroms came on the defensive end.

TALE OF TWO HALVES
The Titans shot 36 percent in the first half against Oakland (Nov. 13) and came back from the break to shoot 61 percent in the second stanza, compared to a 29 percent effort from the Golden Grizzlies.

LAST TIME OUT
Detroit freshman Kassandra Hooten poured in a team-high and personal-best 12 points, while tying for a team-high seven rebounds, but the Titans ended up falling by a score of 64-43 to visiting Bowling Green in women's basketball action on Dec. 9 at Calihan Hall.

UDM senior Brigid Mulroy also scored in double figures with 10 points after shooting 4-of-5 from the field, while teammate sophomore Yar Shayok matched Hooten's effort in caroms (7).

Sophomore Lauren Allen, who ended with a game-high four steals, gave the Titans a 6-4 lead in the opening minutes of the contest as she hit a midrange jumper off a pass from Mulroy. The Falcons answered with a 3-pointer from junior Jen Uhl and then Bowling Green maintained its lead the rest of the game.

Detroit cut the Falcons' lead to two with just over eight minutes remaining in the first half after Hooten made both of her attempts at the line to put the score at 19-17. Bowling Green responded with a 12-2 scoring run, but Mulroy nailed a trey as time expired to pull the Titans within eight at the break (32-24).

The Titans cut the deficit to nine at 6:17 after Shayok converted a 3-point play, but that was the closest Detroit would get to Bowling Green as the Falcons responded with 15 unanswered points, which included a 9-of-9 showing at the charity stripe.

Bowling Green junior Lauren Prochaska netted a game-high 25 points, two shy of her personal-best, which included a flawless 7-of-7 showing at the line. Uhl pulled down a game-high eight rebounds, while senior Tara Breske came off the bench to add 10 points for the Falcons.

UDM shot 29 percent on the night (15-of-51), while the Falcons had a 23-of-56 showing from the field. BGSU (6-2) had a 42-34 advantage in rebounds and Detroit tallied two blocks to the Falcons' one.

BIG TEN TEAMS TO CALIHAN
Michigan State and Michigan will both visit Calihan Hall this year, which is the first time since the 2001-02 season in which Detroit has hosted both Big Ten teams. The Titans opened up their home season against MSU (Nov. 15) and will host the Wolverines on Dec. 19.

PEACHY KEEN
Detroit and Georgia will have a rematch this year on Dec. 22 in Athens. Last season, the Titans captured a historic 70-66 victory over then 23rd-ranked Georgia at Calihan Hall on Nov. 22.

YOU LOOK FAMILIAR
When the Titans square-off with Michigan in December, it will pit a former mentor against a mentee as Detroit head coach Autumn Rademacher coached under Michigan head coach Kevin Borseth for three seasons (2004-07) while he was at the helm of Green Bay's women's team.

HORIZON LEAGUE NETWORK
All of Detroit's home games and every road conference contest for the Titans will be televised on the Horizon League Network this year.

DETROIT INKS TWO
University of Detroit Mercy head women's basketball coach Autumn Rademacher has announced that two student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Titan squad, beginning with the 2010-11 season. The signees are: Megan Hatter (F, 6-0, Howell, MI/Howell) and Senee Shearer (G, 5-7, Detroit, MI/Pershing). Hatter is the sister of current Titan, Heather Hatter.
