The University of Detroit Mercy's women's lacrosse team (5-8), seeded second, captured an 18-9 victory over #3 Presbyterian College (2-11) on the opening day of the National Lacrosse Conference Tournament Friday afternoon at the Athletics Complex on Longwood's campus in Farmville, VA.

Anna Eidem (Champlin, MN/Totino-Grace) started off the scoring for either team as she found the back of the net at the 26:22 mark. About three minutes later, UDM freshman
Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON/Donald A. Wilson) netted one of her game-high nine goals and followed it up with another at 19:35. PC got on the scoreboard just over a minute later as junior Brittni Dulaney scored an unassisted goal.
Eidem scored three more goals in the first half, with the last coming at 2:50 off an assist from freshman
Corina Mahorn (Whitby, ON/Anderson CVI) to put the score at 10-5 in favor of the Titans. After a goal by Blue Hose junior Jenna Handshoe, with an assist credited to freshman Laura Meade, sophomore
Olivia Mendoza (Lansing, MI/Catholic Central) scored the final goal of the opening stanza, which was her second, to give Detroit an 11-6 advantage at the break.
Boissonneault scored the first goal for the Titans of the second half just 10 seconds in and Eidem netted one of her six goals of the afternoon at 21:31 to put the score at 13-6. Boissonneault collected four more goals throughout the game, while Eidem and Mendoza each tallied one more for the Titans.
Eidem also earned an assist on the day, while senior
Liz Hardy (Clarkston, MI/Clarkston) dished out a helper on one of Eidem's goals in the second stanza.
Stenoien and Dulaney each scored two goals for the Blue Hose, while Meade dished out a game-high two assists.
Freshman
Brett Yenger (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore) earned the win to improve her record to 5-8 in net on the year after collecting nine saves, while allowing nine goals in 60 minutes of play. Freshman Susan England was credited the loss for the Blue Hose after allowing 14 goals and tallying eight saves in just under 43 minutes of action.
Next up for the Titans is a match-up against top-seeded Longwood on May 3 (3 p.m.) in the championship game of the NLC Tournament at the Athletics Complex in Farmville, VA.
