Ten former members of the University of Detroit Mercy's women's soccer program made the trek to Titan Field on Saturday afternoon for the annual alumni game which the current Titans won by a score of 3-1.
Today's Titans took an early lead on a goal by senior Trina Kochanski (Royal Oak, MI/Kimball) who was assisted by junior Selena Stanski (Tecumseh, ON/St. Anne's Secondary). Freshman Sarah Dzuris (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester) increased the lead to 2-0 with 20 minutes remaining in the first half, and with time winding down in the opening period of play Stanski recorded her second helper on a goal by freshman Nina Carter (Clinton Twp., MI/Chippewa Valley).
A second-half stalemate was broken as the clock ran out when Dani McIntyre put the alumni team on the board, narrowly avoiding the shutout.
The UDM women's soccer team will host the Notre Dame (OH) Falcons in the season opener on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Titan Field.
