Sophomore
Simon Reyers (Kingston, ON/Holy Cross) was the top Titan golfer on the weekend as Detroit earned a share of 14th place at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. The event, hosted by Illinois State, took place at the Weibring Golf Club in Normal, IL.
UDM totaled a 944 (324, 311, 309) on the weekend and showed improvement in every round.
Reyers was the low man for the Titans carding a 236 (82, 77, 77), earning a tie for 47th in the process. Senior
Britt Pronk (London, ON/St. Thomas Aquinas) and freshman
Kyle Benford (Amherstview, ON/Holy Cross) were just one stroke back of their teammate for 51st place. Pronk followed his first round 81 with a pair of 78's, while Benford posted a 77 in round two and an 81 on the final 18.
Rookie
Brendan Leonard (Cambridge, ON/St. Benedict) had the best round of the tournament for the red, white and blue as the freshman put together a 75 in the third round to tie for 64th with a 239 (82, 82, 75).
UDM will have one more official fall event left on the docket as the Titans hit the road to Beallsville, MD, to play in the Georgetown Intercollegiate. The two-day event is scheduled to begin on Oct. 18 at The Members Club at Four Streams.
