DETROIT - The Titans will head to Indianapolis to face Butler who finished the season as the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League. The game will be available for viewing on the Horizon League Network and live stats will also be available. The game is set for Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Detroit (8-6-5/3-3-2 Horizon League) finished the regular season as the No. 6 seed and defeated the No. 3 seed Cleveland State on Friday on the strength of a two-goal effort from freshman Kaitlyn Quarrell (Thunder Bay, ON/St. Ignatius). Quarrell's second of the game at 88:11 secured the victory for the Titans and advanced them to the semifinals for the first time since 2006. She has now recorded three goals in her last two games and also four goals, and nine of her team-leading 13 points, in her last five contests.
The Vikings scored in the 14th minute to take a 1-0 lead but Quarrell responded at 41:31 to tie it up just before halftime. Detroit held a 12-3 overall shooting advantage and started to control more possession in the second half.

The only shot on goal for Cleveland State was the team's one goal that just made it over the goal line. The midfield of sophomore Sarah Dzuris (Rochester Hills, MI/Rochester), junior Lauren Roffey (West Bloomfield, MI/West Bloomfield), junior Rebecca Pidgeon (Ann Arbor, MI/Huron), junior Alison Suschak (Brecksville, OH/Brecksville), and sophomore Nina Carter (Clinton Twp., MI/Chippewa Valley) helped keep the ball in the Cleveland State zone winning 50-50 balls and continually pushing the ball forward.

The Titans are 7-17-0 all time against Butler. Earlier this year, Butler made the trip to Detroit and won the match 3-0. The Bulldogs posted two early goals in that game with the first at 9:43 and another at 21:00. The Titans held an overall 10-6 shooting advantage but a late third goal clinched the game for Butler.

Butler (8-10-0/6-2-0 HL) will play its first playoff game of 2010 after receiving a first round bye for winning the Horizon League regular season. The Bulldogs lost just two conference games this season. The first was a 1-0 home game to Valparaiso on October 3 and the second defeat was a 2-1 loss again at home but this time against Loyola.

Butler this season had numerous players take Horizon League accolades. Forward Katie Griswold and midfielder Jackie Hafele were both named to the first team while defender Sarah Phelps was named to the second team. Midfielder Nikki Hafele, defender Olivia Colosimo, and Jackie Hafele were all named to the Newcomer team while Jackie Hafele earned the Newcomer of the Year award. Butler's fifth year coach Tari St. John also took home Coach of the Year honors.

Griswold led the team in scoring in the regular season with nine goals and 20 points. Jackie Hafele finished tied for second on the team in points with nine (2G, 5A) tied with Rachael Melendez (3G, 3A).

Goaltender Olivia Walter started all 17 games for the Bulldogs with six shutouts and 59 saves while posting a 7-10-0 overall record.

The winner of this contest will face the winner of the other semifinal taking place earlier in the day on Friday. No. 5 seed Wright State plays No. 2 seed Milwaukee in a rematch of the October 24 game in Dayton, Ohio which Wright State won 1-0. The Horizon League Championship Game will take place Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Sunday's winner earns an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
