Woody Payne (Inkster, MI/Ypsilanti) earned his second defensive honor of the year as the Titan guard was selected to the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Defensive All-America Team.
Payne picked up the honor after garnering the Horizon League's Co-Defensive Player of the Year award back in March, the first Titan ever to earn the defensive award.
He finished the season ranked second in the league with 2.2 steals per game, while his 76 total steals on the year were second in school history, just four behind the all-time lead for a single season.
For his career, the 5-11 ballhawk tallied 190 career takeaways moving to a share of second in Titan history with Rashad Phillips, and just five shy of the all-time school mark held by Jerry Davis.
The CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Defensive All-America Team consists of 20 players rather than assembling first, second, third and fourth team squads. Division I coaches and NBA scouts are part of the selection process, but final decision rests with the collegeinsider.com staff.
