Women’s Basketball Signs Glanz

The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball program added another student-athlete to its roster for the 2010-11 season. Head coach Autumn Rademacher announced that 6-5 center Julianna Glanz (St. John's, MI/Waverly) has signed a Letter of Intent to play for the Titans.

Glanz made a significant impact in her lone season with the Lansing Waverly Warriors after transferring from St. Johns. She averaged 9.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as a senior, helping Waverly finish the year with a 16-5 overall record. A large player rotation mixed with some lopsided victories kept Glanz's minutes at roughly 18 per game. The center earned Class A All-Area Honorable Mention as a senior.

Glanz is the tallest UDM recruit since Michelle DeHaan, who played alongside coach Rademacher during the 1994-95 season.

“Julianna Glanz is the 6-5 center we needed to provide depth in the post,” Rademacher said. “We are very fortunate that she has joined the Detroit Titan women's basketball team. She had a great senior year despite facing an enormous amount of adversity and, with the help of her coach, Erik Kutas, she continues to get better every day. Julianna runs the floor well, she has great hands, finishes around the basket, has a nice outside shot and is a huge presence on defense. We feel that she is just tapping into her true potential and that her best basketball has yet to come.”

The Michigan Girls Basketball Report rated the top 100 high school players in Michigan. Glanz was placed 33rd overall, the seventh-best center. Two other student-athletes who have already signed with Titans are also on the list. Megan Hatter was placed at 21st, while Senee Shearer came in at 29th overall.
