Gaither Appointed to Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Executive Committee

UDM director of athletics Keri Gaither has been named to serve on the Executive Committee of the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association.

Gaither will be one of just 13 members serving on the Executive Committee, which works on behalf of the membership of the D1-AAA, in addition to its President and five other officers.

Her appointment was released in conjunction with the Association's announcement of its new president for 2010-11, Brian Quinn, director of athletics at Cal State Fullerton.

Also elected to serve the DI-AAA for the 2010-11 term were 1st Vice President Ken Kavanagh, director of athletics at Florida Gulf Coast University; 2nd Vice President John Suarez, director of athletics at Long Island University Brooklyn; 3rd Vice President Keith Gill, director of athletics at American University; Secretary Peg Bradley-Doppes, director of athletics at the University of Denver; and Treasurer Bob Driscoll, director of athletics at Providence College.

Gaither joins Steve Watson, director of athletics at St. Bonaventure University, as the two newest members added to the Executive Committee for 2010-11.  They join current members Troy Austin, director of athletics at Longwood University; Vic Cegles, director of athletics at Long Beach State University; Dan Coonan, director of athletics at Santa Clara University; Gene Doris, director of athletics at Fairfield University; Tim Hall, director of athletics at the University of Missouri Kansas City; Bill Hogan, director of athletics at Seattle University; Kelly Mehrtens, director of athletics at the University of North Carolina Wilmington; Pat Meiser, director of athletics at the University of Hartford; Dave Mullins, director of athletics at East Tennessee State University; Pat Nero, commissioner of the American East Conference; and Bruce Rasmussen, director of athletics at Creighton University.

Now in its 10th year, the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association's mission is to enhance initiatives common to its Division I-AAA membership – the Division I institutions that do not sponsor football – in particular, aspects related to their flagship basketball programs.

Gaither has been active within many other groups as well since officially taking over as UDM's director of athletics in May of 2007, and she also currently serves on the NCAA's the Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee.
