Lucas Kim (Toronto, ON/Silverthorn) took home his first collegiate top-10 finish as the Detroit men's golf team tied for eighth at DePaul's John Dallio Memorial.
Kim posted a 220 (75, 72, 73) to lead the Titans, ending with a one-over 73 on Sunday. He birdied three holes in a row (13, 14, 15) and four of five at one point along with making seven pars in the final round. His 12 birdies on the weekend were the fourth most in the field, while his play on par 3's (one-over, 3.08 average) was also fourth.
Sophomore
Brendan Leonard (Cambridge, ON/St. Benedict) shot a three-over 75 on the final 18 to tie for 22nd with a 227 (77, 75, 75), while junior
Simon Reyers (Kingston, ON/Holy Cross) shared 36th after posting a 232 (79, 75, 78).
As a team, Detroit carded a 923 (314, 298, 311), tying with Bradley and Green Bay. Florida Gulf Coast won the tournament with an 873.
The Titans will be back in action at the end of the week as UDM will face Bowling Green in a duel on Friday, Oct. 14, at the Detroit Golf Club. Play will begin at 2:00 p.m.
