CHICAGO--  Four Titans scored in double figures to lead Detroit to a 65-54 win at Loyola Saturday afternoon in Horizon League play at Gentile Arena.  A stiff defense keyed the win as Loyola mustered just 37.5 percent shooting from the field and had eight shots blocked.

Following a tough four-point loss at UIC on Thursday, Detroit used a spirited practice Friday to regroup for a total team focus Saturday.  The Titans shared the ball to the tune of 15 assists on 22 field goals and eight different players had at least one helper.  Senior LaMarcus Lowe championed a gritty, "no easy looks" effort with five blocked shots while Doug Anderson, Ray McCallum and Eli Holman all added rejections.

"We came back last night and we practiced and had as good intensity as we've had in a long time," Coach McCallum told the media following the game.  "The way we competed in practice last night got us ready for today.  It was our bench and our ability to get some transition baskets that got us some confidence."

Detroit (7-9, 1-3 HL) was led by senior Chase Simon's 17 points while Anderson had 14, McCallum 13 and Holman 12 for the balanced attack.  The Titans took care of the basketball as well, turning it over just eight times while forcing 13 Rambler miscues and converting them into 18 points.

Following a long jumper from Anderson on the game's first possession, Loyola countered with the next eight points to grab an early advantage at the first media stoppage.  Junior Ben Averkamp made three quick jumpers to help Loyola lead by as many as eight in the first half on his way to a game-high 20 points.

Trailing 24-20, Detroit dug in defensively and did not allow the Ramblers to score over the final three minutes of the opening period to take a 27-24 advantage into the break.  Detroit made the lead hold up, scoring seven of the first nine points of the second stanza to roar out to an eight-point margin.

LU (5-9, 0-4 HL) got no closer than five the rest of the way and the Detroit edge grew to double digits on five straight points from Simon, helping put the game out of reach.

The Titans return home to open the 2012 calendar year, hosting Valparaiso and Butler on Friday and Sunday, respectively.  Both games will be available live on ESPN3.com.
