Titans Head To Florida For MAAC Showdown With Jacksonville

DETROIT -- The Detroit men's lacrosse team will hit the road for a battle of early undefeated teams in the MAAC as the Titans meet the Dolphins of Jacksonville in the Sunshine State on Saturday. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m., at D.B. Milne Field.

It is the first career match-up between the schools as both UDM and JU come into the game at 1-0 in the league after winning their conference opens last week. The Titans downed VMI, 13-9, while Jacksonville upended Canisius, 12-8.

Detroit (2-7, 1-0 MAAC) is currently third in the nation in caused turnovers at 12.22 per game, behind only Yale (13.40) and Delaware (12.25). That effort is spearheaded by sophomore Jordan Houtby, who is second in the nation in caused turnovers (3.56), while ranking 10th in ground balls at 6.78 per game. Sophomore Jamie Hebden is 19th with 1.89 caused TO's per contest, while sophomore goalie A.J. Levell is third in the MAAC with 90 saves.

Offensively, the Titans are led by freshman Shayne Adams, who tops the team – and is tied for first in the country – with 23 goals, while also leading the Titans with 26 points. Junior Scott Harris has a team-high 13 assists and is second in goals (10) and points (23). Detroit has also seen others step up their play on offense as sophomore Chris Nemes netted a career-high three goals in the win over VMI, while freshman Alex Maini is third on the team with nine goals and 13 points. Junior Ty Maruyama had two markers last week and freshmen Wes Steen and Troy Dennis also found the back of the net in the victory over the Keydets.

Jacksonville, in just its second year of varsity lacrosse, is 3-5 on the season. The Dolphins have three players with 10+ goals, led by Bobby Stockton's 14. Max Gurowski and Cameron Mann are tied for the team lead with 19 points, with Gurowski topping the team in assists (14). Peter DeLuca has started all eight games in goals posting an 11.61 goals against average and 91 total saves.
