Jeff Clarridge (Barrie, ON/Bear Creek) earned his third top 10 finish of the season to lead the Detroit men's golf team to a sixth-place tally at Butler's Spring Invitational.
The Titans improved their score from round one by five strokes, ending with a 605 (305-300), just four away from reaching the top five. The 300 round on Tuesday was the best among the seven Horizon League schools competing on the Par 72, 6,960-yard Prestwick Country Club course.
“We played better today in tough conditions, but we still left some shots out there,” said head coach Mark Engel.
Clarridge led the way with a one-over 73 to finish in a three-way tie for eighth with a 147 (74-73). The senior was steady all throughout the 36 holes ending with 27 pars – the third most in the tournament – and a 3.95 average on par 4's – also the third best among the 79 golfers.
