DETROIT -- Freshman Shayne Adams (St. Catharines, ON/Denis Morris) poured in four more goals and the Titans tried to mount a late comeback as Detroit was downed by Lehigh, 13-9, on Sunday afternoon at Titan Field.

The four goals marked Adams' third hat trick on the season as the rookie attackman pushed his goal total to 17 on the year.

On a cold and windy day in the Motor City, Detroit (1-5) saw Lehigh (3-1) jump out to an early 2-0 lead less than five minutes into the contest.

UDM cut that in half as junior Tim Lehto (Farmington, MI/North Farmington) notched his second goal of the year, but the Mountain Hawks added two more goals to take a 4-1 lead.

UDM came right back with three-straight tallies to knot things up at 4-all. Freshman Alex Maini (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook), who earned an assist on Lehto's goal, took a pass from junior Scott Harris (Saline, MI/Saline) and found the back of the net just a minute into the second. Detroit then took advantage of a Lehigh penalty as freshman Wes Steen (Columbus, OH/Olentangy Liberty) found sophomore Chris Nemes (Novi, MI/Detroit Catholic Central) and the second-year player fired one past the goalie. Halfway through the period, Adams got on the board with his first.

Lehigh, who defeated Navy last Tuesday, then broke the game open with eight-straight goals to jump out in front, 12-4.

The red, white and blue never gave up though as the Titans started their comeback attempt with eight minutes to go in the third. Harris' second assist of the day went to Adams and he notched a marker with the man-up. Just three minutes later, Adams came back again with a goal putting one in as he was pushed to the ground.

Nearly a quarter went by without any scores until the Mountain Hawks added a goal with 6:09 in the fourth. Detroit responded with three-straight to end the game as Harris tallied his fourth of the season off a great look from junior Brad Janer (Novi, MI/Detroit Catholic Central). Freshman also posted a goal, while Adams' fourth of the contest came with 2:11 left.

Sophomore #A.J. Levell# (Columbus, OH/Dublin Scioto) kept Detroit in the game with 16 saves on the day. Sophomore Jamie Hebden (Farmington Hills, MI/Brother Rice) picked up a team-high five ground balls and two caused turnovers, while sophomore Jordan Houtby (St. Catharines, ON/Holy Cross Secondary) had three caused TO's and freshman Max Zwolan (Ann Arbor, MI/Pioneer) ended with four GB's and two caused turnovers.

Detroit had a hard time clearing the ball today ending the game at 10-of-26, but did hold Lehigh at bay causing 15 turnovers, while forcing Lehigh into 22 total miscues on the day.

The Titans will return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 9, when the Titans travel to Mount St. Mary's. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
