Box Score

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Emily Boissonneault (Brooklin, ON, Donald A. Wilson Secondary) had a fantastic game against the Wildcats putting together a six goal performance, but the Titans were handed their seventh loss of the season on Friday afternoon at Richardson Stadium.

Boissonneault only took eight shots to record six goals. She now has a team-high 26 goals this season. Erin Keitel led the offensive charge for Davidson. Keitel scored five goals and added two assists to finish the game with seven points. Erin Doherty added a hat trick for the Wildcats.

“We executed well when we slowed down and set things up,” Boissonneault explained. “We had worked on that in practice this week. Our transition game was what hurt us today. That and we threw too many balls away.”

Davidson (2-9, 1-2 NLC) scored four goals in the first six minutes of the game forcing Detroit to take a timeout. The Wildcats scored two more goals pushing the lead to 6-0, before Boissonneault got Detroit on the scoreboard with a goal at the 21:14 mark.

Detroit (1-7, 0-3 NLC) faced a 12-4 deficit at halftime. Boissonneault found the back of the net twice in the opening half. Lindsey Saunders (Pasadena, MD, Northeast) and Corina Mahorn (Whitby, ON, Anderson CVI) also scored for Detroit. Saunders ended the game with two goals.

“We got a reality check at halftime,” Boissonneault said. “We had to focus on playing our game, and run through everything. I thought we needed a spark so I started driving hard to the goal.”

Boissonneault went through with her plan as she scored the first goal of the second half 23 seconds into the action. Jenna Mugele pushed the lead back to eight a few minutes later, but Boissonneault fought back as she tried to spark a comeback with back-to-back goals around the 25 minute mark cutting the Wildcat lead to 13-7. Davidson responded by scoring four straight goals to recover a comfortable lead.

Marybeth Flanagan (Lansing, MI, Waverly) was the goalkeeper for Detroit. She ended the game with five saves. Jessica Melby picked up the win as the Davidson goalkeeper. She made nine saves.

The Titans will return to action with a game on Sunday against High Point. First draw will begin at 11:00 a.m.
