SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Detroit Titan women's lacrosse team was defeated by Le Moyne on Friday afternoon by the final score of 22-7.
Emily Boissonneault scored a hat trick against the Dolphins.
Boissonneault once again led the Detroit offense by scoring three goals off nine shots. She leads the team with 49 goals on the season.
Lindsey Saunders,
Corina Mahorn,
Olivia Mendoza, and
Morgan Lear rounded out the scoring for UDM.
Michelle Phillips was responsible for leading Le Moyne to victory. She had a game-high five goals and also spread the ball around with five assists against Detroit. Rebekah Elmer was right behind her with four goals and three assists, while Kelly Condon, Brittany Brigandi, and Victoria Nies all recorded hat tricks for the Dolphins.
Detroit (3-12) got off to a promising start, but they faced a five goal deficit at halftime. Boissonneault scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1, and then a free position shot gave Detroit a 2-1 edge early. Elmer matched Boissonneault's intensity for Le Moyne with four first half goals, while Phillips did damage with a hat trick in the first thirty minutes of play.
The second half belonged to the Dolphins as they outscored the Titans 12-2. Mahorn scored an unassisted goal making the score 12-6, but Le Moyne put the game away with eight straight goals to take a demanding 20-6 lead.
Le Moyne won the battle of the box score outperforming the Titans in shots, ground balls, and draw controls. Kelly Fucillo got the win as the Le Moyne goalkeeper. She made four saves.
Jenna Alberts was the Detroit keeper for all 60 minutes. She made four stops in the first half and two more in the second for six total.
The Titans will end their road trip with a game against St. Bonaventure tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.
