BOWLING GREEN Ohio -- Freshman
Michael Nedoszytko (Scarborough, ON/McNeil) fired one of the best scores in the tournament with a three-under 69 in the final round as the Detroit men's golf team took sixth place at Bowling Green's John Piper Intercollegiate.
The Titans shot a 297 on the day to finish with a 54-hole total of 913 (323, 293, 297). Bowling Green (892) held serve on its home course defeating Loyola in the second playoff hole for the title, while the Ramblers' Alex Cusumano was the medalist finishing with a 216 (76, 71, 69).
Nedoszytko was simply great on the final 18 as his three-under card tied him for the second best score in the field in the two-day event. The rookie once again showed the ability to shake off a slow start as his final round tally was a 15-stroke improvement then his first round score. It also propelled Nedoszytko to a share of 24th with a 230 (84, 77, 69).
Junior
Simon Reyers (Kingston, ON/Holy Cross) was the top Titan again sharing 13th place with a 223 (75, 71, 77). He was tied for the tournament lead in par 3 scoring with a 3.00 even average, while his nine birdies were tied for the third-most in the event.
Senior
Mark Hicks (Niagara-On-The-Lake, ON/Niagara) also finished in 24th place as he carded a two-over 74 on Tuesday to total a 230 (84, 72, 74) of his own. He also connected for nine birdies in his three rounds.
As a team, Detroit's 35 birdies were tied for the most in the 10-team field.
