DETROIT -- The Detroit women's basketball team cut a 17-point second-half deficit to seven, but that was as close as it would get as the Titans dropped a 68-59 decision to No. 14/12 Green Bay on Saturday on Dick Vitale Court at Calihan Hall.

Freshman Shareta Brown (Grand Blanc, MI/Grand Blanc) led the Titans with her seventh double-double of the year finishing with 19 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Junior Demeisha Fambro (Detroit, MI/Crockett Tech) had 18 points and a season-high seven boards, while senior Jalesa Jones (Detroit, MI/Pershing) had six points, five rebounds and tied her season-best with nine assists. Jones' nine helpers give her 441 for her career as she passed head coach Autumn Rademacher for third place in Titan history.

Detroit (8-10, 4-2 HL) trailed by five, 29-24, early in the second half when the Phoenix started to take charge and build a double-digit lead. Green Bay (15-0, 5-0 HL) eventually extended its margin to as many as 17, 47-30, when the Titans made their first run to cut it to 11.

After a free throw by Jones and a Phoenix turnover, she found Fambro who hit an open three to make it 47-34. After a Green Bay basket, Brown and junior Yar Shayok (Ottawa, ON/Hillcrest) had back-to-back layups and UDM was down by 11, 49-38, with 8:16 left

Green Bay though was able to stymie that run and push its advantage back to 17, 55-38, with a 7-0 run.

That was when the red, white and blue caught fire again with a 10-0 spurt. Brown and Fambro each had four points in that stretch and Jones added the other basket to get within seven, 55-48. The defense also forced three turnovers to help the team get back in it.

UDM also had it to seven at 57-50, but Green Bay began to slowly push the score back to double digits, with the Titans only able to cut it to eight the rest of the way.

Sophomore Megan Hatter (Howell, MI/Howell) ended the game with nine points and three rebounds, while Shayok had two points and five caroms.

Detroit was 6-of-24 from the three-point line, but did outrebound the Phoenix, 43-32.

Defense dominated the opening minutes as Green Bay was one of its first seven from the field, while Detroit was 1-of-3 with four turnovers.

The game was close throughout the first half of play, with UDM taking the lead, 7-5, on a 3-pointer by Hatter and later on at 10-9 after a pair of free throws by Jones. Detroit had its last lead at 12-11, when Jones found Fambro a quick layup.

Both teams then went toe-to-toe, but Green Bay would extend its advantage to as many as nine, before heading into the half up by seven, 29-22.

Four players scored in double figures for Green Bay, led by Adrian Ritchie's 20.

The Titans will have a week off before their next competition with Wright State coming to the Motor City next Saturday. It will be Homecoming at Detroit with the men facing the Raiders at Noon on FOX Sports Detroit and the women to follow against WSU at 3:00 p.m.
