DETROIT (10/9/2012) -- The Detroit Titans will continue conference play with senior day on Sunday at Titan Field against the Cleveland State Vikings with a 1:00 p.m. start in women's soccer action. Detroit went to Wright State on Wednesday and won a big conference match-up by a 1-0 score.

Chilly Valpo
Detroit (5-6-1, 2-2 Horizon League) played one contest last week matching up with the Valparaiso Crusaders on Saturday. The weather was cold, the sun was hidden and the only rain that came was the Crusaders raining on the Titans' parade as Detroit fell by a 1-0 score on a late goal in the 87
th minute. UDM had eight shots, six on net, and all were saved by Valparaiso goalkeeper Kristen Manski who recorded a Horizon League best seventh shutout of the season.
Newer and Older History
The Titans and Raiders will meet for the 22
nd time. Wright State leads the all-time series 10-8-4 including wins in each of the last four meetings. The last meeting came when Wright State brought Detroit's 2011 season to a close with a 3-2 win in the Horizon League Semifinals in Milwaukee on Nov. 4. The Raiders also kept the Titans from a perfect home record last year with a 1-0 win in Detroit's regular season home finale.
Against Cleveland State, Detroit holds the series edge with a 5-1-2 overall mark with the lone Viking win in 2009 in Cleveland. This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams in Detroit with the Titans having won the other three games by a combined score of 24-0. The last time these two squared off was the regular season finale last season in Cleveland which ended in a 0-0 draw. The last game prior to that saw then freshman

The Wright Stuff in 2012
Wright State (6-2-5, 1-0-2 Horizon League) is coming off a 0-0 draw at Loyola on Saturday evening. Raider goalkeeper Brooke McCurdy made seven saves picking up her fifth shutout of the season. The Raiders have lost just two games this year dropping a 3-0 decision at Dayton on Sept. 14 and the other contest was on Aug. 26 at Colorado with a 2-1 defeat. Wright State has not lost in its last five outings with a 3-0-2 record posting a 1-0 double overtime win at Milwaukee to kick off conference play on Sept. 22.
The Vikings from Cleveland State
Cleveland State (5-8-0, 1-2 HL) will play at Youngstown State Friday evening before continuing on to the Motor City for Sunday's contest. Entering Friday's match-up, the Vikings are on a two-game win streak with a 4-1 home win over Francis Marion on Saturday and a 1-0 double overtime win over Green Bay on Oct. 3 in Cleveland. The other three victories for the Vikings this year have come at Bowling Green with a 2-1 overtime win, at IUPUI with a 5-1 win, and they also recorded a 3-1 home win vs. Longwood.
Offensive Juggernauts
Detroit's back line will face a stiff test this week as Wright State and Cleveland State are tied for the Horizon League team lead in goals scored with 20. Freshman Ini Umotong leads the WSU attack, and the league, with six goals on the season while Jamie Avona and Vickie Havas from Cleveland State are tied for second with five apiece. Havas also has five assists and leads the conference with 15 total points. Umotong is right behind her with 14 points and Avona is alone in third with 12 points. The Raiders are also second in the Horizon League with just nine goals allowed while CSU has allowed the second most thus far with 21.

Detroit will recognize its five seniors prior to the start of Sunday's game against Cleveland State as

Where do we go from here
Detroit will end the 2012 regular season campaign at home with three contests including two Horizon League matches starting with senior day on Sunday against Cleveland State and then wrapping up against Madonna on Oct. 19 and Youngstown State on Oct. 24.
