Titans Extend Broadcast Partnership with FSD

DETROIT (11/20/12) - The University of Detroit Mercy athletic department has added to its 2012-13 men's basketball television schedule with the addition of three FOX Sports Detroit broadcasts. FSD, the same station that carries the “Detroit Titan Court Report” along with Detroit Pistons, Tigers and Red Wings games, will once again partner with the Titans to strengthen one of the more impressive television packages in the Horizon League.

Those games bring the total number of regional and national televised appearances to 14, including a minimum of 10 on the ESPN family of networks and one Horizon League "Game of the Week".

“It's great for us to grow both our local and national television partnerships,” stated Interim Director of Athletics Jason Horn. “FOX Sports Detroit has been a true partner over the last couple seasons, not only in broadcasting games but also with the Titan Court Report, our discussions to continue the relationship proved to be beneficial for both of us.”

The three-game slate begins Dec. 15 when the Akron Zips visit Calihan Hall for a noon tip.  More than a month later, the Titans face conference rival UIC with a 6:30 p.m. match-up on Jan. 19, before hosting Loyola at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 26.

In addition, FSD has agreed to air another season of the Michigan Emmy award winning “Detroit Titan Court Report”, a 30-minute behind-the-scenes look at Titan basketball.  The show previews upcoming games as well as recapping past action. Various features will also be shown profiling Titan student-athletes.  The show won a 2011-12 Michigan Emmy in the Sports Program Series category over the Ford Lions Report LIVE (WXYZ), Tigers Live (FS Detroit) and the Tigers Live –Justin Verlander No-Hitter (FS Detroit). FOX Sports Detroit has provided statewide coverage of UDM basketball, has now won over 90 Emmys since 2000.
